Frankly, saying you can’t raise a family on 100k without asking for handouts is the very definition of privilege. I suppose I don’t know where they live, but unless it is a very expensive place I have a hard time understanding how they struggle. Of course I was raised by a single mother so I know what it is like to eat ramen for every meal and live in substandard housing.
In case you didn’t notice the US is fucked but it is mostly the fault of the “fiscal conservatives” who love to run up the debt while pretending it is the progressives fault. If you have a solution to this problem besides austerity I am all ears.
The reality is the US is an empire in decline and the moment the dollar stops being the primary reserve currency the entire system will crash just as it has several times in history (Spain, Dutch, and English most recently).
