There are relatively easy paths out. If you’re young enough, Canada offers a working holiday visa program

I was able to save enough and do it while working as a line cook. The most expensive part is physically moving

We should be celebrating other people leaving. It hurts the regime.

I’m about 90% sure they’ve been trying to get educated people to leave the U.S. before the midterms. It feels like some of the disinformation campaigns of 2026 have become so obvious now compared to the campaigns of 2016.

There’s obviously a chance there won’t be midterms but as dumb as these people are, they probably didn’t kick off a 50 year long plan to destroy the U.S. government and overthrow democracy without a Plan A, Plan B, and probably a Plan C.

Even if Plan A is to cancel the midterms, it’s easier to do that, along with a lot of other bullshit, if you successfully carry out a Plan B where you convince a significant chunk of the population with education, money, and influence to leave the country before you carry out Plan A. That leaves a weaker population to push back against you.

It’s funny, reading your sad little statement while thinking about the countless immigrants who left everything to start a new life in America, back before the fascists took control. We really are a sad little nation now, in more ways than one.

Can you understand your mistake here? I’m not leaving. I want to survive and use my skills to rebuild what I can after the 2-digit IQ war is over. I’m sad because I’m volunteering to clean up the mess?

Would you prefer he stay in the US and continue funding this regime?

Trump cares about money and power. Taking away some money is about the strongest message a non-politician can send. It also doesn’t stop him speaking out, or funding opposition. He can still do everything else

The only real result is that the US is losing his tax dollars and businesses. That’s what you’re complaining about.

America will outlast Trump. The Dems need another candidate with the campaign skills of Bill Clinton or Barack Obama to make him and his followers totally forgettable. Republicans will triumph as long as the Dems keep pushing presidential candidates with weak campaign skills on us.

I don’t really see the difference in general doctrine between Trump and the others.

Trump is just more in your face, but for the rest he is just another US president.

Gimme one that would rediscuss the role of Israel (or even its existence) and who will actually support Ukraine and then maybe we can talk.

We need someone who will control the party with an iron fist and yank everything left instead of just wanting to return to the status quo. Someone willing to tell every Republican and their supporters to go fuck themselves.

Not really, they fired thousands of people right away to offset the cost of paying old Jim here. So he fundamentally disrupted all those lives, and the lives of the worker’s dependent families, and now he’s bouncing with the spoils.

You and Trump agree on that one

I strongly disagree. Taking his businesses and tax dollars away from the US is the most impactful individual action he could take

He can speak out against Trump much more freely from NZ. If he stays, he’s more likely to face retaliation for speaking out

What is he going to do to fix the regime that he can’t do from NZ?

Also keep in mind he’s Canadian. That makes him more vulnerable to reprisal for speaking out, but it’s also not his country to fix

Whenever I see people telling American to just leave the US, I always think “so I have to be rich to move to a new country? And I’m supposed to be a problem?” It costs tens of thousands of dollars to get just the application. It’s extremely privileged to assume everyone can do that.

I feel like it says a lot that he believes everybody is at each other’s throats right now.

Most people seem to have a lot less tolerance for unnecessary bullshit, as in just not having the energy to waste pretending.

I think it’s because most people who are aware of reality are also aware that shit is very bad right now, unless you’re a Nazi and it’s intentional. This country is being held hostage by Nazis trying to goad us into a civil war, and it’s kind of psychotic to pretend things are normal.

There are some people who seem to want to pretend the same rules as always still apply, because it makes them feel more in control. They get offended when people don’t play along and pretend reality isn’t reality, but … tough shit. This is a fucking ridiculous mess.

I can’t help but wonder if he views people no longer pretending to be nice about his bullshit as “everyone being at each other’s throats.”
