When they leave absolutely no room for doubt that’s the way it’s going to be, then there will be far less hesitation when it comes to opposing them. Let them force us to unite against them. As it stands, there are still too many afraid of going outside the status quo so they need to be given little choice.

Sure, but in return they’ll be far more powerful, and the math here is overwhelmingly in their favor. Both authoritarianism and resistance require time and preparation, so there’s no time to waste on electoral politics when it’s already known that it won’t work. Any resistance movement that tries to establish itself after the authoritarian takeover will simply be crushed; the time to stop the Nazis was before the Enabling Act, not after.

Not really, no - it never was. But many “centrists” still do, and we need their support so proving the truth we see to them is necessary.

The two options are not mutually exclusive. We can prepare for battle, but wait for them to throw down the gauntlet first.
