From a local pizza place. (at least I think its local, pretty sure its not a chain)
No I didn’t do this just for a joke, I actually like it. Problem? Catch me outside, how 'bout that?
Pineapple on pizza is great … but with salami and … what even is that, ground beef? This is not the way.
Pineapple on pizza hate is pretty overblown. It’s not great, it’s not bad, and it’s better than you expect it should be. It’s not something I’d ever get on purpose, but I’ll eat it if it’s freely available somewhere, or there’s no other alternative.
People that don’t like pineapple on pizza are frozen pizza people, probably a hawaiian pizza too.
How dare you.
I’m tired of pretending that the sweet and tangy flavors of pineapple don’t perfectly compliment the meat and tomato on a pizza.
Well said, Spice Hoarder
The most common variety of pizza is made with a fruit sauce but people then act like Pineapple is a bridge too far.
I like to put pineapple on pizza I make at home. But I buy fresh pineapple. Canned pineapple is just too bland.

Canned pineapple is also too … Liquidy? It gets the juices everywhere making the whole pizza taste like canned pineapple and not a nice combination of the salty flavours of pizza with the nice sweet complimentary flavour of pineapple. I specifically only accept home made hawaii pizza because of this fact.
… But i dont like sweet flavours on pizza. I like em on the salty or cheesy side, so maybe thats why?

My one criticism of “pineapple on pizza” actually has fuck all to do with the pineapple (and while you did it here, you also didn’t. Let me explain.)
The issue is that the common pairing of “sweet ham and sweet pineapple” is a grave mistake. Both toppings fill the same role, and doubling with no contrast is too much imo. Some add salty bacon which does help, and you’ve added salty pepperoni and savory beef which further helps (though in my opinion crowds it, the ideal pizza is 3 toppings, but still way better than just ham/pine, this pizza looks good!)
Ideally, the best way to utilize the sweet pineapple on a pizza is to combine it with salty pepperoni and spicy jalapenos (if you can handle them).
I had a pizza in New York once that was pineapple and ricotta which was pretty legit
Ricotta is a cheat code, good on every pizza!
I had a Pepperoni, Sausage, and Ricotta once that was pretty good
Pineapple on pizza is great once in a while. I like to pair it with jalapeños.
Oh, this is new. I thought pineapple with chicken or fish. Didn’t about pineapple with pepperoni. Might need to try that
The classic is with ham which I loved as a kid but I think now it’s sort of essential to have some pepperoni or salami or something in addition to or instead of ham if having pineapple. It needs that intensity to contrast the pineapple, the grease too, it’s a part of it, mixes with juice from the pineapple and just produces the most “pizza” of tastes, it’s like pure monosogoodium pizzamate. Chicken, I mean it’s probably fine but in general chicken on pizza is pretty dry and bland and it’s doing nothing to compliment the pineapple particularly.
Actually the chicken on pizza shouldn’t, and doesn’t have to, be dry (though you’re right it often is, they use frozen).
Start with fresh not frozen, chop it up appropriately, fry in a pan with a little texas pete mild buffalo to season, and then use that fully cooked as a topping but do it half under the cheese (sprinkle half, chicken, pine, jal, sprinkle half).
That said, the pine juice actually helps compensate for the dry chicken, and if you’re feeling savory instead of salty it is a great pairing too. Doubly so with jal (for both).
Just pineapple and ham? I sleep.
Add seasoned and cured meats? Real shit!
Culinarily speaking, I think the mix of sweet and savory is a criminally underutilized combo.
Apples? Strange choice, but ok. But pines are straightforwardly inedible!
I completely disagree. Saw a dude who used to make ice cream with state trees just do a video about making bread with pine needles. He said it was amazing.
And if you never tried making your own soda, grab some pine needles and mix with water and sugar in a pressure safe vessel for a couple days and you get something not all that dissimilar from sprite.
Elaborate on this vessel, a 2l with a balloon cap like beer mash?
No balloon cap, something that can contain a little pressure so it’ll carbonate. I prefer doing fermentation in glass, but an old soda bottle would work fine.
pineapple belongs on pizza, so good
It looks good!
My family regularly ordered Hawaiian pizzas at parties growing up before I ever heard of it being some sort of food controversy.
Haven’t seen sausage as part of that combo before but it seems like a nice, filling choice to balance out the rest 😄
I prefer pizza on my pineapple.

Isn’t that a pineapple crust pizza?
I love pineapple on pizza and I almost reflexively down voted this… I should probably look at that in myself.
xD
