Microsoft has published new patents that discuss an Xbox system to let human or AI helpers temporarily take over gameplay for players.

    I could see this being used by people who aren’t able to manage all the controls themselves but still want some degree of interaction

      There is value in that.

      As an example, my wife has terrible hand eye co-ordination and has real trouble using controllers. We found a great way to experience games together. We play mostly story based or RPG type games. I operate the controller, but she picks character skills, quests, dialogue options, etc. She gets to experience the game, without the frustration of trying to operate. Yet another job AI is going to take from me, spending quality time with my wife (this last line being /s).
