He was probably on a pay-per-appearance deal. I know he was also doing GCW and other Indies.

Well deserved, honestly. He’s a very talented guy.

the thing about danhausen is, like adult swim in 2011, it’s great the first time you hear it and then a week while you’re talking about it with your friends but then it gets so old and repetitive.

So if anyone cares… it was Danhausen in the crate, and Cole summed it up with, “what the hell was that?”

I still contend Jericho was the plan, until he couldn’t get out of the AEW deal, because that felt thrown together. At least to me.

Oh wow, he got to keep his name and decent entrance music, WWE must really like him. Hopefully they do something with him, and if they don’t hopefully he at least makes a bunch of t-shirt money.

Yeah, I honestly think the debut was pretty well done. He kept his name, they made him look like a big deal with the dancers and everything, the music and presentation fit the gimmick perfectly, I don’t think they could have done better with it.

Even with that, though, it didn’t seem like the crowd was on board with any of it, from the clips I saw. I think Danhausen’s whole schtick might just be past its sell by date at this point. But I guess we’ll see how it goes.

I don’t know that his thing is past it’s date, but it’s clear Chicago fans, some of the smarkiest, didn’t care, and that’s bad for him, Punk’s friendship will only take him so far.

As to the debut itself, yeah it was pretty good outside the whole crate story. Should have just used the coffin if this was the plan all along, although then people would have thought of 'Taker, so maybe it wouldn’t have worked either. I really believe WWE started that crate thing like it was something big only to have to pivot and end it with Danhausen. I’m not trying to knock him, I enjoyed his AEW work, but he’s not that big of a deal.

I didn’t even realize this was in Chicago. That’s even worse for him. He came up through the Midwest indies; I would think if anyone would appreciate him, it’d be a smarky Chicago crowd.

Hopefully it was just the crowd disappointed it wasn’t something bigger. I may not watch or like WWE any more, but that doesn’t mean I don’t wish the best for the talent there. Well… most of the talent there.

I’m hoping the crowd was just upset because he wasn’t Jericho and Danhausen can recover.

I was literally thinking this as I was punching in for my shift.

Now the question is: will he get lost in the shuffle of comedy gimmicks in the fed currently?

Sucks his AEW run went nowhere. He was hurt for a large portion, and then his run pretty much quietly died alongside Dark and Dark Elevation. It’s not like comedy doesn’t get over in AEW, either. Orange Cassidy, Harley Cameron, Toni Storm. Granted, all of them have evolved from where they started in AEW, and Danhausen never really had a chance to evolve.

I wish the guy all the best, of course. But much like PowerRoyce HouseKeys Hobbs, it’s unlikely he’ll be on my tv.

I imagine he’ll get a couple of good weeks before he ends up like the rest of the lower to mid card, a match here or there but not used a whole lot. But, like others said he did get to keep his name, so far, and his entrance didn’t suck so maybe he’s liked, or maybe Punk is pulling for him with management. Housekeys has been barely used since his debut from what I can tell.
