I’m honestly surprised that things between Russia and China have remained cordial for this long. Russia is obviously over-extended and Xi could be strong-arming or flat out invading bits of Russia at this point.

That only applies when you’re not Asian, so by that logic Russia will lose any war it gets into with its Asian neighbors.

I’m shocked that Xi hasn’t started taking off large slices of Russia like a well done ham.

Why bother? He can just wait till it’s time to collect the bill and make Putin give him Eastern Russia.

Yeah, the longer this goes on, the better for China. The balance of power shifts in their favor every day, and they have all the political reasons to keep this war going as much as they can.

Russia bleeds out, what are they going to do, stop them? Nah buddy, here have some more chips for your rockets.

Nato countries grow tired of investing in “far away” peoples? Great, how much does the French right wing care about Taiwan now?

They are the real and only winner.

Do they formally need the territory? If they form a strong enough dependency, you’ve got the stability and sweetheart trade deals without the cost of actually governing it.

The US could probably ask for Wales or a French department or two in exchange for what they sunk into NATO, but they hardly need to raise the flag to symbolize the vassal relationship.
