Just made an account here ten minutes ago. The format feels weird but it’s nice to be able to continue talking like sensible people without getting banned for it. Feels good, man.
It’s why I’m here. 12 year member, nearly a million in karma, perma-banned for repeating a statement I’d made many times in the past with no repercussions. The first time I repeated it after HitlerPig stole the election, I was fully banned.
It’s happening because Ohanion wants to buy TikTok, and he knows HitlerPig will be personally making the decision, based on who smooched his ass the most, and who paid the biggest bribe. So as a show of good faith, he’s volunteering to make Reddit a member of the Conservative Propaganda Machine.
I hope Reddit goes the way of Digg.

I miss being able to interact with certain smaller subreddits for particular interests, but that’s about it.
I genuinely don’t know if there’d be enough of a following to see an active Blakes 7 group over here. That’s my biggest loss tbh.

I spent an hour last night interacting with and outing ruzzian trolls on Reddit. There was no doubt these were ruzzians, because after a couple of tit-for-tat comments, they use terms like “we” when talking about ruzzias invasion of Ukraine. They all knew what Yandex was without asking or querying it, as a non ruzzian would. In some comments I explained why ruzzia is a third world shithole country, because I’ve been there. I told a couple to go dig babushka a fresh latrine pit, and a couple others how good they’d look fertilizing sunflowers in Kursk Woke up today, and I’ve been permanently banned “for inciting violence”. Reddit is a hive full of ruzzian trolls and bots, and the moderators appear to support them. I don’t think I’ll bother creating another account lol.

There are a lot of instances. Some are more lax than others. I’d recommend avoiding world, it’s best if you lot spread out.

Basically yes. The alternatives passively become better simply because of the mainstream option becoming worse over time. I think it’s still going too slowly in general but I’m not complaining, better slow than not at all.
Better slow than too fast too. Lemmy feels like a nice fairly small community. I’m not sure that’ll continue once it’s the size of Reddit. We’ll get more content and niche communities will be better served though, so there’s pros and cons.
Not quite… It’s easiest to game on Windows still. I’d love to move to Linux, though. But, alas, this year is not your year still. Crucify me if you wish, but this is the truth. So say a simple gamer that knows more than you do if you’re peddling Linux as the best option in early 2025.

Reddit full bore banned me for saying “I should have a legal right to punch nazis” and declined my appeal.

I haven’t been full banned yet but have grown tired of the amazing levels of stupidity. I caught a temp ban for incivility for writing “Your mother should have gone through with her Planned Parenthood appointment.”

Today i saw a deleted comment in a post titled “trump says he will label violence on tesla dealerships as domestic terrorism” and someone quoted it to express their shock that the comment was deleted. It was “elon and the orange dictator need to be removed from the board” and on top of that people are getting moderated messages warning them that they are liking content related to Luigi mangione. And they are even deleting people’s comments that mention the name luigi mangione.
We are in a full fledged fascist authoritarian police state. The only way to remedy it is a revolution. The system is under complete corporate control and has shown that it will not allow self remediation through its own mechanisms. Like the Princeton study proved the amount of influence one has upon legislated policy is directly correlated with the amount of wealth you have with regular working class people having a statistically irrelevant near zero impact on policy regardless how popular or unpopular the policy may be. This is the reality. There is no way forward that isn’t uncomfortable. And those who believe they are too comfortable to risk what they have need to really examine their reality and see if it truly is comfortable or just a meaningless existence of repetitive wage slavery with basically no autonomy or meaning within such an existence. And at the rate the working class habe lost what little we had that was worth working for in the last 5/6 decades how much more will be lost in the future decades and at that point how can you even believe your children will have any semblance of a life worth working and living for? Something needs to be done now before it is too late which it unfortunately may already be. To be fair I would say a mass-orchestrated event of committing arson and destruction of private property across the nation should be classified as domestic terrorism… if you remove politics from the equation, it’s still terrorism.

i dint know why anyone would buy anything besides a Toyota or Honda product American automotive corporations have shown time and again they put profitability and planned obsolescence over consumer trust and vehicle reliability in every instance. And if consumers could do their research and just understand that the WV revolution will never happen with the industry relying on LiFePo batteries. The mining of lithium salts is very harmful for the environment and the people doing it who are virtually all exploited third world inhabitants in countries with regulatory committees weak enough to allow mass exploitation of the labor force to ensure EV’s are profitable. We need to double down on solar tech and improve its efficiency. There is a brand from Germany, SONO, they manufacture a solar vehicle and if they had the amount of capital musk has conned off the American taxnpayers maybe we would see a path to a true sustainable form of personal transportation in the next 5 decades. But as things are it isnt possible. There is a bottleneck for LiFePo battery production. We would beed to increase output by at least 1000% to ensure we could meet consumer demand for new vehicles with ev tech. Not to mention the cordless power tool industry, disposable vapes and all the other industries that rely on this tech. So people have been buying into a mass delusion through advertising propaganda/pr just to stuff musks pockets at our expense
