hey videogames are fun. been playing some cyberpunk as of late, good jolly.

but uhhh… I don’t think there’s such a thing as a communist gamer. also man, if they think the industry is bad now, wait until they find out about how monetised China’s industry is.

Well, there’s “information wanted to be free” software pirates who might consider themselves Communists.

But Tankies are a whole different ball of dung.

I dunno this feels really normal. People of all walks play video games. On the other end of the spectrum you can be sure there are MAGAts complaining about ‘woke’ games.

Oh nothing wrong with playing games, no. But I do love it when the communists turn into consumerists. These are the people who are going to revolutionise and overthrow capitalism? The ones sucking at its teats?

I feel like video games are about as diverse as books are now. Anyone can play anything they want. Of course, they blame capitalism for the lack of new creative games, but I see all sorts of creative games. Lethal Company makes excellent satire on capitalism and is one of the better games this year. Helldivers is another great satirical game

There are still old games that work too, and we have a large collection of history to play through. They mentioned RCT2, a 20 year old game at this point.

Capitalism isn’t really to blame for triple A games failing. It’s usually scope issues and trying to please a certain audience. Indie games and old games address that problem. Don’t like the new stuff? Just play the old stuff.

If there’s anything to blame on capitalism, it’s the state of mobile games, riddled with micro transactions and gotcha. It’s designed to separate you from your money. The best mobile games are just ports of desktop games, as that is a market that doesn’t rely on you making as many transactions as possible.

There’s also subscription services. This doesn’t have to be solved though a revolution, but can be solved through consumer protections.

They even mention Nintendo as an innovator in gameplay. They still are and have the best selling console.

Sure, there’s a million similar FPS games, but definitely many innovative games that sell well. The whole genre of automation factory games like Factorio is huge and still newish for example.
