I’m finding it hard to find concise info on what’s been going on in/around Iran. Can anyone throw a brief timeline of events for me? Pretty pretty please?
Edi: thanks for all the comments and answers, appreciate it!
I live in Iran myself and even I ain’t got a clue what’s going on. I’m 100% sure the information we need to understand what’s happened isn’t public.
Hope you the people end up with some sanity from all of this going on. It’s mind boggling to me, a nobody from Canada, how Israel has been acting. I understand it’s not anything new from their ambitions , but man how they are choosing to act is insane to me
Iran is arming resistance groups who attack israel when israel increase violence against palestinians killing them, arresting them ,torturing them , demolish their homes.
Israel used the excuse of iran being close to building nukes within few months for 30 years and the end of negociation with Trump, so they destroy iran helping resistance once for all. American also wanted a coup so they control iran ressources and using it as a bargaining power against rivals china and russia
Unmentioned so far: Netanyahu’s government coalition was about to topple, so this war was a dodge of the corruption charges hanging over him if he leaves, and a trade with the other parties to stay in power. One of the coalition member parties had threatened to drop out over conscription of a previously exempt religious sect, and it had become time-sensitive due to a judicial order. The attack on Iran happened within a day.
The court has no obligation to believe netenyaho and keep delaying court sessions
DW just did an excellent 2 part documentary summarizing the conflict. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1x5psFk9io
I watched both parts, though it’s not the current situation that I was trying to figure out, it was good information to see
Here we have Israel, a bully and murderer who has realised that no-one is willing to do anything to stop its rampages. Israel doesn’t like Palestine. Israel doesn’t like Lebanon. Israel doesn’t like Iran. Never has. Probably never will.
Israel, overconfident, backed by the US, and with a stockpile of bombs just sitting there doing nothing, decides that this would be a perfect time to attack anyone and everyone else it doesn’t like. What were those other two countries on the list again? Oh yeah. Lebanon and Iran.
What’s that, Iran’s pretty big and people might take more notice? Got to have a not at all flimsy excuse! How about “weapons of mass destruction”! That worked fine when the US wanted to go into Iraq. Might as well get some use out of it. We won’t use that phrase though, that would be too obvious.
So “Iran has nukes. Honest, guv. Got to blow them up before they do that to us. Definitely.”
I went back through Wikipedia’s current events from June 2025 and put together a rough timeline:
- 2025-06-12: IAEA declares Iran in breach of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations.
- 2025-06-13: Israel attacks Iran targeting nuclear facilities and senior government officials. Iran retaliates with missles and drones.
- 2025-06-17: Donald Trump calls for Iran’s unconditional surrender. Iran refuses.
- 2025-06-22: The US announces it has bombed multiple nuclear facilities in Iran – particularly including sites at Fordow and Natanz which are deep underground – using its unusual ~30000 pound (~12000 kg) Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs. Iran retaliates by firing missles at a US base in Qatar and by voting to close the Strait of Hormuz.
- 2025-06-24: The US and Qatar mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Donald Trump says Israel and Iran “don’t know what the fuck they are doing” as the countries continue fighting initially. It seems to be holding so far after a rocky start though?
Really appreciate you doing this for me.
I feel bit dumb I didn’t think to check wiki. But I also realize wiki didn’t come up in my searches and how that’s starting to concern me
I’d also add the bit in the middle where trump publicly tweets that they’re going to bomb the nuclear facilities and ends up doing very little damage as Iran had plenty of time to casually move their nuclear supplies off site.
This upsets the shriveled tangerine.
