The Justice Department had demanded that James E. Ryan step down in order to help resolve a civil rights investigation into the school.
By “civil rights investigation” they mean he was willing to admit nonwhite students.
As a Maryland grad, fuck UVa and their cardigan wrapped shoulders, but as an American, this is another nail in democracy’s coffin and I wish things for people that should not be written in words.
