As an Italian, I feel ashamed of this statement made by the government actually in charge

Welcome to the boat friend. The bad news, USA is on the boat this time. The good news, Japan is not at the time of this post.

Not necessarily the government - this is from the public broadcasters, who should ideally be somewhat independent. Also this article asks us to trust some person from the former Israeli Eurovision delegation as a source.

That said, Italy’s current government is a dark cloud over the country. But at least in Italy it feels like an exception. In Germany it’s just the same broad coalition as always, and despite being the first country who should really know better they do not seem to be doing any better than the neo-fascists in Italy.

Our governments have always been disgraces, but I guess it’s inevitable, given … Everything

The greatest strength of Italy to me is how unruly it is. No matter who the government is, I trust the people of Italy to do their own thing and to largely carry on as usual.

Not that fascism in Italy wasn’t awful, but totalitarianism was a relatively unsuccessful project compared to some other places. And of course ended with Mussolini dangling.

Of all the countries that could throw their support behind genocide and rising fascism… it had to be you two.

Yes, please, that self sphincter fondling show should have died 20 years ago, when Gido Horn baa’d “Piep, piep, piep, ich hab euch alle lieb…”

The very last reminder this event overstayed its welcome should have been Stefan Raab blubbering “Wadde hadde dude da?”

In the past year or so I’ve gone from incredibly positive views of Germany to thinking of it even worse than America.

Seems the de-nazification of Germany needs to continue.

The crackdown on activists (especially oil & Israel) in EU and UK scared me too. I just didn’t really think it possible without a huge backslash, and certainly not this easy (very little to none political debate - everyone is acting like this is the most logical if gov actions).

What the hell is Israel doing in the Eurovision anyway? Do they even have a square centimetre or land in Europe? Kick out the warmongers.

because they’re part of the EBU… but also we aussies are part of it… eurovision isn’t about geographic area. it seems most “euro” things are kinda more “with ties to europe” these days. i think arguing on the basis of geography is a losing strategy in a heavily globalised world

Yes, I agree. Make the whole world German 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 Then nobody can complain about borders as we will all be united under one glorious flag and culture.

as an outsider, i literally don’t care about the countries involved… the EU is a model that works quite well (it has its flaws, but most other things have much bigger flaws)… if it’s all german, i mean, and…? if it works it works… i don’t know which parts are german and which are… french i guess? vs everything else… it’s a good model, and if countries willingly want to join in on a fun little cultural moment thennnnn where’s the harm in that?

Yes, like supporting genocide. In the past, it was; causing world wars, wiping out native population, involving and bankrupting their colonies in their wars, and calling people in their colonies savages for wanting independence.

        Just Euro things.

“Beacons of peace and human rights.”

No wonder Israel is included too. Like peas in a pod.

It’s about power and how it’s allowed to be usee. It’s about what states are allowed to do to people broadly.

The zionist cause isnt just about exterminating palestinians. It’s about apartheid, slavery, and killing anyone whos inconvenient. It’s about unaccoubtable state violence. Its about a boot on every neck and a camera on every gadget.

That appeals, generally, to the powerful. That is also why, even if you believe every single lie they’ve told about palestinians, the zionists must, having come this far, be crushed with staggering excessive and exemplary violence, or all of us, every person on earth, will suffer until this regime they stand at the vanguard of ends all fucking life.

Or, you know, we could just let them keep doing it, revel in the seemingly endless rivers of blood, and eventually envy the dead until we join them.

Both options have their silver linings.

The Levant is very useful for colonizing and keeping the middle east from developing and competing with euros strategic interests. They don’t actually give a fuck about Israel outside of what a strong settler regime can provide to the honky extended universe.
