I had an LCD failure on a GBA, they said it was dropped when it wasn’t and I found photo evidence of a retail unit with the same size and shape failure. They did fix it, but it was like pulling teeth.

It sounds like the water indicator stickers did not change color. But they said that water can still get in / water damage can occur regardless.
