Must be nice to be of the ownership/wealthy classes and be able to move away from the fascists during their rise to power. The rest of us will have to do our best to remember our own humanity while we watch people become nazis and trade their humanity away before the leopards eat their faces.

I’ve seen a lot of comments on the Fediverse about people who have moved or aspire to move from red states to blue states. I hope they get the same level of vitriol in the future, just to keep things consistent.

It was sarcasm. Commenter was quick to judge others for leaving an unfavorable environment instead of staying to fight. The reality is not everyone wants to put themselves and their families in danger for the cause.

For now, yeah. I mean there is no such place as a safe or “good” nation. Every one of them will hold you at gunpoint demanding money so they can build a library.

But actively and swiftly the US is going full nazi. If one leaves I don’t blame them.

hahahah I love libraries. It’s a “reductio ad absurdum” that shows how a lack of tax payment will, eventually, result in a state destroying your everything, and when cops show up, it’s always at gunpoint. (at least in the US)

Before you get to thinking I’m a libertarian, recall I mentioned all nation states are bad.

yes. but even rich artists become owner class when they transition to having staff they hold the hiring/firing power over. it’s not about the amount of money so much as it is the methods by which it is acquired. (im not disagreeing with your reply)

Most people go where they have an opportunity. Either they have citizenship already or a pathway (like a parent) to it.

Although being stupid rich will get you access just about anywhere.

From what little interaction I had with FlyingSquid, it seemed like his family was very working class and the move to the UK took a lot of sacrifice.

Ellen on the other hand has a net worth in the hundreds of millions and thus was never in any real danger in the US because of her sexuality.

Saying they’re their own nation does how bad they are a disservice. These people have no creed, nation, or culture they disregard all of that for power a prime example of which being rich cunts who go to Dubai and rich Arabs who come to the West and act more debaucherous than a French aristocrat. To them creed, nation, and culture is simply a tool.

This nightmare. She created a hostile working environment, her employees could never look her straight in the eye, else they might turn to stone. I remember reading a story long before she had the Ellen talk show about a card game she hosted at her house, and she was so mean to her guests. She made one woman cry because she won and wanted to leave early. She is a horrible person. I feel sorry for any country where she resides.
