I’ve found that Imposter Syndrome is really common. Even people that I admire that are rockstars in the industry I’m in also have Imposter Syndrome.
Maybe the weirdos are the ones without Imposter Syndrome?
When you say “we” have you charged through the walls like the Kool Aid Man? Cuz’ I was just looking up my state and county offices to possibly run for something. It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s important. I’m tired of calling my House representative and getting ChatGPT-generated Republican talking points emailed back to me.
“That is a fucking idiotic idea.”
Attacks the idea, not the person. Probably will be the same result, because they probably were a fucking idiot to believe that stuff, and they are very attached to stupid ideas.
Have you tried some good alternatives to meat? Like, try seitan* crumbles in a taco. With all the spices and other toppings it’s really hard to tell the difference. Also, I find it almost impossible to tell an Impossible Whopper with Cheese from a regular Whopper with Cheese, after all the glop they put on it. I know those are both bottom-of-the-barrel meat choices, but maybe branch out and try a thing or two. If you don’t like it - no biggie.
I’ve tried casually dipping my toes into the vegetarian pool with just occasional meat substitutions. Occasionally I find something that’s “No way” but more often than not, I find something that is also really tasty. It’s not meat, but it’s also tasty in a different way, so I don’t miss meat as much. I’ve found vegetarian dishes I actually like. My biggest problem however is getting enough protein in my diet when I start eating mostly veggies.
[* Seitan only if you can handle gluten. Because, it’s like 100% gluten! ]
Oh, that is definitely true in the U.S.
Also, I’ve found that rail travel is inconvenient in the U.S. I can’t confirm, but it seems like the Amtrak only comes through my (Midwest) area once a week, on Wednesdays or something like that. So, if I plan a trip, I need to plan around.
Midwest to the East Coast is so much cheaper and faster by air. I want to travel by rail - and you’d think it should be cheaper - but it’s totally not.
Part of it, I believe, is that Amtrak leases the usage of the rail lines from the shipping companies, so it must adhere to their schedules of shipping freight. The USA spends so much on upgrading its highway system; if they used a fraction of that money towards rail travel we would be set. But certain companies keep lobbying Congress to keep us locked in a model where we are totally reliant on cars and gasoline.
“Finally, a nipple!”
Yet, when they’re both fried, they both magically become “pommes frites,” n’est pas?
Instead of AOC (however much I love her and her message) I’m thinking Whitmer would be better and has a great track record. Walz would be stronger than AOC, if they let him hammer 'em with his wit. Andy Beshear would totally freak the GOP out and would be a great choice.
Me, too.
No, that’s crazy talk. We like to be surprised when we pay for taxes and tips.
Right. People with a gun in the house are more likely to be injured or killed by a gun, not less.
The human brain processes information by chunking - bundling up information into chunks to remember it. It’s like a .zip file or compression on an image. That process is a bit lossy. If you’ve ever tried to write a technical document or a rules-set for a game, and had a user go through the document undirected, you’ll see it in action.
The more complicated, technical, or tedious the instructions are, the more likely loss or misinterpretation will occur. A friend of mine says that writing a technical document is like programming a computer that skips every 7th line.
As a person who has written many of these, I’ve found ways to counteract / ameliorate their problems:
I hope this helps!
Well you’d get Hillary in 2008 instead of Obama - which might not have been terrible. Could she have beat McCain? Probably.
I like just “Floh”, even if it does just mean “flea” in German.
What if you could log in with your Mastodon (or other) Fediverse account, and they would too, so you could see their user history and connections? (And they could see yours)
I’ve been re-watching the TV series “Leverage”, but it’s disappointing in not believable. It’s based in an insane world where the rich and powerful can eventually lose their money and go to jail.
Reminder to everyone - tip a few bucks to the server! It’s worth it!
