  • I find it quite impressive that you feel entitled to dictate to me how you want me to post. You are free to post the way you want when you start doing so.

    Edit:

    1. The strikethrough
    2. blueworld@piefed.world I am not proud of my reaction to your approach, which really hit a nerve due to its tone. If you look into my post history, you will notice that sometimes I add stuff in the body section sometimes I don’t. Personally, when the article is short usually I don’t. Apart from that I am more interested in the people who are willing to to read the article, and what I add is for them (archive link, the study that inspired the article, etc). I don’t care for those who are bored to make a click to check it out.

  • Thanks for linking this. She does talk about this section at 37:39.

Yes, as she has said before, she is against the genocide. Still, even here, she says stuff like

Crimes by Israeli settlers tolerated by the government [38:39]

No. The Israeli government promotes and legislates those crimes in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories - it doesn’t just tolerate them.

I have noticed that she really doesn’t like talking about anti-zionist points, even tho every now and then she mentions that it is not the same as antisemitism. Here is a very gentle and well-intended critique of her approach to antisemitism.

  • This video is very informative and to the point imo, until she arrives at the point of Israel. Her analysis there becomes watered down to say the least in favor of white settler colonial zionism (after 42:55) by using the “both sides” arguments.

This is from the comment section of her video, and I find it very accurate:

Why would a study or analysis of the Palestinian Genocide require a look at antisemitic hate crimes? It has literally no bearing on whether Israel is engaged in a colonial project or exterminating Palestinians.

  • I don’t see anything surprising in what you describe. It is well known that Zionism uses Judaism as a tool for its settler colonialism for well over a century now. The Bund wrote anti-zionist songs at the time.

Clearly, Judaism and Zionism are not synonyms, nor have they ever been.

It is the Zionist state of Israel that tries to present Judaism and Zionism as synonyms. We shouldn’t fall for Zionist propaganda / Israeli propaganda / Hasbara, call it as you want, these are synonyms. And this is why we need to call out both Zionism and antisemitism.

Saying that Israel is a theocracy (…) because this is what the Jewish religion is, not only is an uniformed statement, it is also an antisemitic one. Israel is a settler collonial theocracy because of Zionist principals. (And the support from the West - meaning, the decendents of the christians and/or europeans that were procecuting Jewish populations for centuries. I won’t expand on this now.)

  • It was a huge disapointment that contrapoints demonstrated this way of thinking on the genocidal settler colonial movement called zionism.

Personnaly, I listen to anti-zionist Jews on on the matter, like Jewish Voice for Peace, since they are the largest Jewish anti-zionist organization in the world. Having JVP’s input, I can say this word substitution doen’t work for me.

Still thank you OP for posting this because, somehow I wasn’t aware of it. I unsubscribed from contrapoint’s channel, and I will not watch any of her videos again, unless she has a change of heart.

  • I tend to agree with what you say but I feel like mentionning a couple of things I see perhaps differently.

I believe saying marine mammals are a myth has nothing to do with claiming alpha males don’t exist. The first is about a biological classification, the latter is about observed (or projected) social behaviors within one species.

Apart from that, and to my understanding, the manosphere has taken a hold of the alpha male narrative and expanded it far beyond the scientifically debunked myth. I do not imply that the fact that the alpha male myth has been debunked means that there are no hierarchical structures in species, just that when they are present, they are misrepresented in order to promote competitive narratives. This is why primatologist Frans de Waal inadvertently popularized the term ‘alpha male.’ Now, he’s debunking common stereotypes to explain what an ‘alpha male’ really is – empathetic and protective.
