Why tots gotta have all the fun?
They already do. You can also get Heelys in adult sizes, in case anyone was wondering.
I’m going with “no”, because it’s a shit product for the environment when you have batteries and electronics fitted into rubber. If the battery runs out, the electronic breaks or the rubber wears out, the entire product is likely to be discarded and burned together.
If you want to attach small lights to your shoes, go ahead. You can then also transfer the lights to your next pair of shoes, change the battery and repair or discard of everything separately.
I don’t have light-up shoes, but I have lights for when I go for a run in the dark. They use a floating magnet that creates small electrical charges, strong enough to make a pair of LEDs flash, with every step. Installing those inside shoes would be a good idea.
This could satisfy environmental concerns, but I personally am not sold on the comfort angle of the solution.
There is an easy solution to that. The internal pad, where the toe sits on, could be removable. This way, both the battery can be replaceable, and the electronics board.
Another idea, could be to implement wireless charging for the lights, since it’s not easy to fit a charging port on a shoe.
I swear some older folks with demetia had them because their families got it for them. I mean maybe they just fit a large kids size or something.
Even more fun with knee high stockings, a short skirt, and a bikini top. Better if you identify as cis male

Lights, yes.
Blinking or strobing lights, no
If you must have blinky lights, there should be something different than walking that sets off the blinking show.
How about dancing
Well, it’s not walking. Dance mode, activate!
something different that sets off the blinking show
It would amazing if we had an app that controls the shoe lights. I love needing an app for every single product/device I buy.
However, I can think of some use cases for “smart” RGB shoes
- Color sync for dancers
- Blinkers for scooters/bicycles
Probably easy to modify (for electrical engineers) to manufactured shoes
I think the issue here is an engineering problem, not necessarily a lack of demand. The sole of the shoes would need to be impracticaly/uncomfortably thick to protect the electronics and keep said electronics from digging into the feet.
No way, LEDs can be tiny. Just look at how many they cram into displays like your phone or TV. The biggest thing is likely to be the battery but those can be made in all kinds of form factors.
Those tiny LEDs also need to be protected. I du no, the forces involved in am adult walking ate much greater than that of a child.
We figured it out in the last millennium, I think we can figure it out again.
The real reason would probably be that you’d need to make the soles out of rubber again instead of the cheap foam that almost all modern (fast fashion disposable) shoes are made with these days.
No. More. Gewgaws.
Yes. With rechargeable batteries, or some obvious way to change the batteries.
Do be certain to advertise them here, so that I am aware these are even for sale. Or take preorders for my shoe size. (Why in the hell is everything NOT a preorder these days?)
They do exist. A friend of mine has pairs for his whole family.
I want neon trim on mine. And hydraulics, too!
Only if we get the built in inline roller skates, too
I’m pretty sure they do. LMDDGTFU, yes. If you use the search engine on your browser “LED Sneakers Adult”, you will find them. Here’s a review of them: https://worksafetytools.com/light-up-shoes-adults-nike-the-ultimate-guide-to-the-coolest-sneakers-with-led-lights/
Sure, why not?
replace batteries in lightup shoes
I mean I got some removable reflectors for my ankles but I feel you
