Trump’s generosity to Argentina has caught the attention of trade partners and U.S. ranchers

Hum… Trump has been throwing lavish praise on Brazil too recently.

He may have discovered that the US can’t stay rich by isolating themselves. But he has been praising countries that are mostly economic competitors, instead of customers or suppliers. I don’t understand how he thinks.

I would think our competitors are the most likely people to give him something under the table to buy him off. What does he care to do it anyways?

I don’t think on this specific case anybody has given him anything.

Again, I don’t really understand anything about what he’s thinking. But on the case of Argentina the money seems to be flowing the other way around, and on the case of Brazil the president would reap lots of benefits if Trump antagonized him further.

Something tells me you don’t really understand south american geography

It’s closer for the Americans to sail on down to Venezuela than for the Argentinians to do anything.

… Granted, there’s like a dozen south american countries the gringos still have a chance to fuck up.

Bah there’s only two countries between them. Next you’re gonna tell me Canada and Guatemala are far apart or Poland and North Korea

Edit, I’m dumb, Venezuela borders Brazil

Yeah, Poland to North Korea was just the most extreme case I could find. With direct distance from Warsaw to Pyongyang is 7556km, there is no driving option, while Caracas to Buenos Aries is 5101km. All three of these cases are most of a hemisphere, including inhospitable terrain.

And for comparison, direct route from Caracas to Washington DC is 3316km. We have a naval station in Virginia, as well as one in Florida (also one in Illinois which would be way more amusing if we hadn’t just torpedoed our relationship with Canada). San Juan, Puerto Rico, a place where all people born are full US citizens is 890km from Caracas.

That’s where they will all escape to, like their former brothers did back in the 1940’s.

You are all thinking way too hard about this. Trump’s understanding of geopolitics is not any more complicated than his understanding of American politics. Argentina is Texas. Canada is California. Reward red. Punish blue. That’s it.

My theory is that he’s not smart enough to strategically build partnerships or relationships with countries. He is rewarding individuals in power that he admires or thinks have shown loyalty to him.

Because Argentina is the prototype for colonial power they want for the rest of latin America, the US has always supported right wing government that opress the population in favor of US corporations, this is a new wave of open Colonialism.

Because Trump doesn’t want to give it to Americans for health care or food. Fuck them! What did they ever do for him?

Maybe these poor people just need to organize and then bring something golden and suck him off in the white house, boom universal healthcare.

He can call it Trump care and cut some tape when it gets launched.

He’s an actual psychopath, so he doesn’t have any concept of love, or any other emotion other than hate, jealously, and greed. That’s why he’s always saying really weird things like he and the Korean guy “fell in love” and exchanged “beautiful love letters.” It’s why he recently said that he got some world leaders in a room, and they all hugged and worked out their problems. It’s why he says really inappropriate things about people’s appearances, thinking he is complimenting them.

He doesn’t understand these concepts at all, because he’s a profoundly broken human being, raised in a family of generational psychopaths. Like all psychopaths, he knows he’s different from normal people, so he has to fake normal behavior to fit in. Most learn to do it because they have to to survive in society, but Trump was so spoiled and coddled, he never had to change his behavior, he just kept getting worse and worse.

But at some point he realized he had to try, so he sprinkles words that he knows the Normies like, like Love, and Beautiful, etc. He doesn’t really know what they mean, he’s never really felt any emotions, but he knows he has to fake it, and since he’s never really had to sell it, he’s terrible at it. He tosses those words around in really inappropriate contexts, and instead of looking normal, he looks even more psychopathic than usual.
