Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed Sunday that the suspect in the shooting of two National Guard members near the White House last week was “radicalized since he’s been here in this country” after arriving in Sept. 2021 from Afghanistan.
Officials have said the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national, entered the U.S. as part of Operation Allies Welcome after the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Lakanwal was granted asylum by the Trump administration earlier this year. The CIA said Thursday that Lakanwal previously worked with the U.S. government, including the CIA, as a member of a partner force in Kandahar that ended in 2021 following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Since Wednesday’s shooting, the Trump administration has ordered all asylum applications paused, according to an internal directive obtained by CBS News and two sources familiar with the order.
I mean realizing that the country you went against your people for is basically a giant evil pyramid scheme of fraud, extortion, and bigotry is probably a pretty deep psychological blow.
So… was he a Bad Person from the moment he received refuge in the US, as Trump said?

Saying “actually it was our country that radicalized him” is an odd flex.
Gives more credence to the idea that “we” need to do something to fix it. More fuel for the fire that is racism and whatever ICE is doing.
I don’t what actually prompted the attack, but if ‘ex-CIA asset suddenly goes hundreds of miles to shoot at random soldiers while the government is trying to argue for keeping the random soldiers’ happened under the previous admin, pundits on the right would be screaming ‘FALSE FLAG’ so loud their tonsils would fly from their throats.
They should certainly look into their families immigration status and what ice has communicated to the family and the shooter.
