Despite it being a topic he would never have reason to discuss, something - I couldn’t tell you what - about what you said reminded me of my eldest brother.
I’ve always heard it as turtle gear, mostly since lots of farm equipment has a turtle and rabbit as slow/fast.

I wonder if it is just a coincidence or if there is some kind of connection between the two…I’ve seen some trucks in the US that had an L for low gear. I had a 3500 that had the normal manual shifter but also had another shifter at the base which would put you into Low mode for all those gears including R. It was VERY low, like the truck barely moved but it had all the torque you’d need to pull something.
