That is correct.
I shower.

No, but took me only 20s or so to walk to the bath and take one.
Also 30 additional steps and a reset of the get-up-counter on my fitness watch, so was a welcome reason to leave the couch ;-)

The one before was 5+ years old when its hose broke.
Did not look great but still ok in the end.
Might just be limescale?

I now had to check…

Shower head is appr. half a year old.
Gunk-free so far! :-)

Should they?
I would expect them to be somewhat self-cleaning when in regular use.
Also: Bonus point because Iiteral shower thought.
Also: Kiwi fruits
I just did some Wikipedia surfing on the topic.
Made clear to me again that the best way to classify Christian lore is as “High Fantasy”.
The whole discussions happening in the years 400 AD sound like some classic nerd turf war.
Perhaps in 500 years there will be some religion based on Warhammer or so…
Some Dutch person also mentioned that it is part of the story the kids get told.
ls that also some theologial schism topic? Damn, it sure is complicated… :-)
As god is generally regarded as the trinity of Father, Son and Holy Ghost, that other bishop wasn’t wrong though…
Where are you from?
Reason might be that it weren’t kids in the variant of the legend the painting is based on, but a kind of medieval travelling clerics on their way to Athens. Says so in the German Wikipedia.
Medieval paintings didn’t care for realistic size comparisons, so might well have been misinterpreted as kids in later times.
Not sure about that.
Traditional figures like Zwarte Piet might also reappear…
An interesting side note I just discovered on Wikipedia:
The boots-filled-over-night tradition is based on another legend of him throwing gold pieces through the window of three poor daughters so that their dad doesn’t have to force them to become prostitutes.
Didn’t expect the roots of St.Nicholas traditions to be that dark…
Wow…
The 6th of December could have a soooo much different character… 😆
I also just realized that I have only 2 days left to buy some sweets and stuff to put into my kid’s boots.

l am a little disappointed as it didn’t dive into how to make it work nonetheless.
E.g. I am guessing the power needed to use my old mechanical typewriter at 120 key presses per minute (so 2 per second) based on needed force and travelled key distance to be in the 0.1W range.
Not a lot, but probably enough to power an efficient microcontroller with a small LCD display.
I am convinced that with the right setup this could be actually working!

Let me also introduce you to the concept of tongue twisters.
Or, to come to the point:
“Lesser leather never weathered wetter weather better.”

Is this uncommon?
Expression is the same in German, even in the places with really good public transport: “Sollen wir den Bus nehmen?” - “Should we take the bus?”
As has been determined by another comment, I’m afraid this impression might be a case of US-defaultism.
At least some sort of interesting regional habit, unknown in different parts of the world.
Not this time, though.
Picture is out of the “Struwelpeter”, which is not part of Grimm’s collections.
