    Christmas has to be a central story element to be a Christmas movie. If you can change out the holiday and not affect the story then it’s not a Christmas movie. Same reason that Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie.

    That all said, watch whatever the hell you want.

      Your criteria is right but your findings about Die Hard are in error. The Christmas party at Nakatomi is what brought John McClane to town. It is why there is minimal security at the building. Christmas is integral to the plans of the terrorists as well as what brings the hero to LA from New York.

      By your own metric Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

      I doubt an office Halloween party would have been held at an an investment firm, let alone be important enough to fly out John McClane.

      Next you’ll tell me that Home Alone isn’t a Christmas movie because the family could have been headed to France for spring break.
