Christmas has to be a central story element to be a Christmas movie. If you can change out the holiday and not affect the story then it’s not a Christmas movie. Same reason that Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie.
Your criteria is right but your findings about Die Hard are in error. The Christmas party at Nakatomi is what brought John McClane to town. It is why there is minimal security at the building. Christmas is integral to the plans of the terrorists as well as what brings the hero to LA from New York.

That all said, watch whatever the hell you want.

By your own metric Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
So it couldn’t be a New Year’s party?
With that argument, nothing is a Christmas movie.
Movies with caroling and Christmas pageants
Before everyone started calling for Die Hard to be a Christmas Movie, I couldn’t have even said what party was happening without rewatching it.
I’m not saying the movie is bad or anything. 🤷
These kind of companies in that era didn’t do New Year’s Eve parties. So not, not really.
Lord of the rings is a Christmas movie
You should post this over at unpopular opinion
I doubt an office Halloween party would have been held at an an investment firm, let alone be important enough to fly out John McClane.
Next you’ll tell me that Home Alone isn’t a Christmas movie because the family could have been headed to France for spring break.
