Organisers clarify award ‘cannot be revoked, shared or transferred’ after Venezuelan opposition leader’s comments
The organisers of the Nobel peace prize have said it “cannot be revoked, shared or transferred” after Venezuela’s opposition leader, María Corina Machado, said she wanted to give her award to Donald Trump.
When Machado was named Nobel laureate in October, it was seen as a snub by the White House, despite Machado rushing to dedicate the prize to the US president and his “decisive support of our cause”.
Trump has made no secret of his strongly held desire to be awarded the Nobel peace prize, the winner of which is selected by an independent five-person committee in Oslo.
The committee tried to appease Trump by offering it to a Venezuelan right winger. They learned the lesson so many have learned; that these people cannot be met halfway, if you give them an inch they WILL take a foot.
She should share it with Putin, Trump and Netanyahu, it would be so perfect and accruate.
Guess she’s not becoming prez after all.
The Nobel Peace Prize is and has always been a joke. No one takes it seriously, or ever has. Adolf Hitler was nominated.
Come on. She’s going for the big leagues. She’ll lose her soul, but she’ll be rich, relative to her colleagues.
Remember me again how trump getting the noble peace prize fixes the economy, gets ICE agents off our streets, ends the genocide in Gaza, ends the war in Ukraine, lowers the cost of fuel, food, housing, gets the Epstein files released in full? Oh yea that’s right it doesn’t.

Imagine wanting to become president so bad, you promise to give your Nobel prize to the guy who just invaded your country, in the hopes that he will stage a coup for you, but then your plans are suddenly foiled because the Nobel prize committee said no, and that’s a dealbreaker for Trump’s support because he is the most superficial man on the planet. I suppose she can just give him her physical medal, which will make him happy because it’s shiney.
