Trump says his administration is reviewing fatal shooting as Republicans and Democrats criticize ICE surge

Donald Trump’s efforts to deploy militarized immigration agents in US cities may finally be reaching a reckoning as he faces widespread opposition across the US, dissenting lawmakers in his own party, and impending court rulings after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal officers in Minneapolis.

While there is no sign the aggressive tactics used by immigration enforcement are coming to an end, the mayor of Minneapolis said the administration will begin to scale back the number of federal agents in Minneapolis starting on Tuesday, as the president and his team soften their harsh rhetoric about the incident.

Trump and Minnesota governor Tim Walz – an otherwise regular target of the president’s ire and ridicule – said they had a call to discuss the federal immigration surge on Monday morning, which the president described in positive terms.

There’s that word “crackdown” again, implying there are some serious crimes that really called for the occupation of a region of the country that doesn’t want any of these terrorists in their area.

This is just the complicit media attempting to assuage the growing pressure. Don’t give in. Stay angry. Keep the pressure on.

Also they should release the Epstein files.

Ooh, “may finally be reaching a reckoning”… Wake me when they finally face consequences. My money’s on a staged withdrawal from Minneapolis and then a rinse-and-repeat in another city as soon as the media has moved on.

      I’m calling it now.

The only reason you’re seeing any reaction right now from the Feds that isn’t quintupling down is because they’re trying to appease asshole establishment Dems who’ll see these non-actions as “good enough” to fund the DHS and stop the shutdown.

And the pathetic shithead Dems might be dumb enough to take it.

I don’t think it’s that. This administration has had no problem telling Democrats to go fuck themselves at every turn. I think they realized that they went too far for a significant portion of the conservative allied 2A absolutists who they cannot afford to alienate in an election year.

Many of those people are not nearly as conservative as most tend to believe. They just categorically refuse to vote for Democrats because they have correctly deduced that Democrats want to take their gun rights away. There’s tons of discussion to be had about that topic but it would be a wise strategy for Democrats to stop talking about gun law reform until they have the votes to make it happen. It’s a non-starter for too many people in states they absolutely need to win a Presidential election by a wide enough margin to accomplish anything legislatively. A progressive, pro-2A politician running on a Sanders style populist platform would do well in large parts of the country, especially if a significant portion of gun owners start to doubt the GOP’s commitment to the 2A.

Correctly? A few Dems mention “gun control” sometimes, mostly to appease anti-gun voters, but among elected Democratic office-holders there’s zero call for taking away gun rights.
