President Trump on Sunday threatened to not sign any bills into law until the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act is approved by the Senate, doubling down on his push to change voting requirements ahead of the midterm elections.
“I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED DOWN VERSION – GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY – ILLNESS, DISABILITY…,” the president wrote in his Sunday morning Truth Social post.
Don’t threaten ME with a good time!
Don’t threaten me with a good time, Donald.
Do we need new laws before impeachment?
I’ve find it hilarious if they were to override this lame duck’s veto.
that’s not what lame duck means
Technically, he’s a lame duck, since this is his second term. Hopefully his second and final, anyway.
Also, if this asshole ends voting by mail in Colorado, there are going to be a whole lot of absolutely LIVID people.
I absolutely does not matter. Those people are too fucking lazy to put up any kind of a fight for their country. trump is going to continue to take lives and liberty and no one is going to do a damn thing.
im so fucking ashamed of how lazy and pathetic americans are.
Then you need to start canvassing those lazy people. Start knocking on doors and get the word out. Since you’re not lazy.
Voting by mail is so nice too. I voted in person in NJ a few years back and I ended up waiting for ~2 hours after work. Now I vote by mail and waste no time.
Yeah, the idea of being able to sit there, quietly, at your own house and fill out your form at your own leisure and research each proposal is great.
research each proposal
There’s nothing stopping you from researching each proposal before going to vote at a polling place. The items on the ballot are not secret.
It’s very worrying to me how many times I have seen this.
I mean you CAN but it’s much nicer to do it from home with the ballot in front of you and really take your time. I don’t know why it’s concerning. I’ve done both, I prefer at home.
i mean, for as long as i can remember in california have they given us a sample ballot we can take in with us, now they just give us our real ballot too
This conversation is about the advantages of mail-in ballots. Being able to research ballots ahead of time is not an advantage of mail-in ballots. In either case, you can have the ballot in front of you (either a sample ballot or a real ballot) and you are able take all the time you need to do your researching.
For someone to say that being able to research ballots ahead of time is an advantage of mail-in ballots suggests that there are people showing up polling places and realizing that they have no idea how they want to vote, resulting in them having to frantically research the issues and candidates on their phones at the polling booth or fill it out without being well informed. And that is worrying.

Well, yeah. Without mail-in voting that is something that is going to happen.
With mail-in voting, it becomes more like an open book test for those that want to look into things. Plenty of time to research things and fill it out at the same time, and at a relaxed pace. Versus some kind of frantic pop quiz at the tail end of a multi-hour wait in line.
I sure hope voters that have to vote in-person plan ahead, do research ahead of time and bring notes if they need them. I somehow doubt that all do.
Last time there was a simple choice:
1)First woman president who is also representing various minority groups.
2)A pedophile criminal convicted and indicted in many occasions. Paid off Stormy Daniels to suck his little peepee. Possibly murdered a baby and several women who he abused as kids. Worse show on NBC where everyone hoped he would get fired. Disrespectful to everyone, specially women.
OK sure, which is why I voted for Harris. Now why are you telling me this? It seems to have nothing to do with mail-in ballots.
Yeah, and with mail-in I can take my time and do all of it at home. No need to try to memorize which way to vote on what or take some crib sheet with me.
It’s a delight.
As far as I’m aware, all 50 states let you bring a “cheat sheet” into the Voting booth. Do your research at home at your own pace, write down your choices for each item, and bring that sheet into the booth with you.
I agree that vote by mail should be universal, but lack of it isn’t an excuse to be uninformed at the polls.
Especially when the questions are written in a way to make your second-guess your choice.
Should just be called SAVE PEDOnald Act.
Trump actually made a tweet just now on the name:
It’s not the Save Act, it’s The Save America Act! A MUCH better, and more important, name!!! President DJT
Trump wants some of that Patriot Act branding.
Not signing anything while congress is in session means it becomes law within ten non-sunday days.
Not that I would ever expect him to know that.
That said, I also wouldn’t mind if he vetoed every partisan line bill coming out of this congress, either.
