My question is why doesn’t the PeetTube logo show up at all? If you turn safe search on, or change any of the letters to capitals (“peertube logO”) it’s nothing but the logo.

If there is one irreplaceable content network, it’s youtube. The amount of quality shit you can watch there for free is insane.
I hardly use it these days for anything except to follow a number of tabletop RPG/wargame crafters that post videos there, and for that there is just no substitute

Maybe bluesky might take a bit longer, but I don’t see how threads is any better than twitter.

I disagree. Lemmy didn’t work well because it wasn’t designed to scale. With atproto, it is less resource intensive if users aren’t spread out, in contrast to acitivtypub where its the opposite.
The problem isn’t resources, it’s reach of disinformation

While you can critisise its decentralisation, it is still in development. There is an effort (https://freeourfeeds.com/, cory doctorow supports it) to host atproto infrastructure outside of bsky’s control.

Punctuation aside, I find that hard to believe, they literally started out as a way to make twitter decentralised after jack dorsey got ✨inspired✨ by a paper on decentralisation. Decentralization on bluesky does exist, they got a lot of flack for banning a trans person who pointed out their head of t&s liked barely legal porn, but she just made her own pds (because bsky is open source) and is now untouchable. All it needs is account moving and to fix up did:plc a bit and it should be decent. I myself am annoyed at bluesky simply because I am a big fan of mastodon, but its already won.

Unpopular opinion: Bluesky is annoying because if I say anything about queer issues (especially trans ones) I get followed by a bunch of alt-righters and the occasional dude with a kiwifarms avatar or something weird like “we will find you” in their bio. Yeah they’re just bots and they’re easy enough to block but it’s tedious. It’s weird how many people nagged me to join and no one even mentioned that.

Yeah, thats not a bluesky problem specifically, this could easily happen to the fediverse, we’re just smaller, and better equipped to stop it since its more mature.

Never log out, my algorithm is tuned to me quite well. Even get very small creators suggested to me.
Definitely seems to be out of the norm though.
I suspect you need quite narrow tastes for the algorithm to be able to figure it out, like if you watch sports videos it’s probably just gonna keep feeding your sports videos forever, because that’s trivially easy and works.
i know i’ve had times were i got a bit too lax with the kinds of minecraft videos i watched and i could feel the algorithm desperately wanting to feed me standard clickbaity shouty videos, and its disappointment when i recoiled from that.
Tech, games and science. It sometimes shoves in other content, but good other content.
