Donald Trump has said that he will withhold funding for New York City if presumptive Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani becomes mayor after November’s general election and doesn’t do the “right thing.”
He is copying Orbán in Hungary. He also “starved” the capital city because they elected an opposition mayor. The city is near bankruptcy at the moment. But hey, mini Trump also wanted to ban the Pride march there last Saturday, and as a result he made it the biggest mass event of the past 10 years.
So if things happen similarly, Trump might be able to actually do this, but it might just ruin his chances at the next election - provided there will be another one, according to him.

Apparently he’s going to destroy NYC by advocating for 1) raised minimum wage, 2) universal free daycare, 3) A working fucking bus system. He’s got personal experience with the problems of the bus system, numbers, a working proof of concept, and a plan to Trump-Proof the city
I’m not even American and I’m rooting for him. Both because he might actually improve people’s lives and because he just seems awesome. Been a long time I’ve seen a politician with his charisma, enthusiasm, and vision. I hope NYC votes him into the office!

- Fast and free buses within NYC
- Rent freeze every year for New Yorkers in rent stabilized housing

Food deserts, I imagine.
Commercial groceries are expensive, a city owned distributer can negotiate prices with food suppliers and pass those savings along to citizens by selling food at or extremely near cost.

I’ll be honest they’re not working from my perspective. I see them everyday and I see the news the next morning.
Protests and public opinion have already contributed to Musk leaving D.C., which if you ask me is a pretty big accomplishment. And protests aren’t usually one and done… It’s about building a movement, and that takes time.

Just FYI: withholding money is financial abuse, a favorite tactic of abusers, since it leaves no visible marks until significant damage is done.
Threatening to withhold money from a place that gives you the most money doesn’t seem like a smart idea.
If New York and California don’t give them their money, the Federal Government isn’t going to have money to withhold.
That’s what abusers do, too. They will cut their own throats to make you squirm.
