I don’t think people understand how fucked people who don’t fit the societal mold of how their body or mind should function are here in the US, things are about to get very grim in the US, much grimmer than they were. The center of this society has decided what they don’t like about Trump and fascism are primarily its harsh tone as he and other rightwing nutjobs murder us. The expression of how little I am worth to the society around me is not lost on me, it is only lost on the centrists who tone police me for being negative about my future.

What societies like mine do as they collapse is tend to see diversity as a threat to the survival of the society, including cognitive diversity. This is a phenomena old as time and centrists have NEVER resisted it once. As someone with severe ADHD it is crystal clear to me a brickwall is heading at me and I know especially with my executive dysfunction there is no way I am dodging it.

I have never been able to hide, if you have a brain like me you knew from a young age it was dangerous to let people think you did weird things because they felt normal to you, so you became the class clown and learned to love it even even as deep down you remember that lesson in your bones you can never forgot. If I let people see how chaotic my brain really is, as in what I turned into a joke was truly me just reacting to my own impulsivenes with clever impulsiveness, they will insist on hurting me, “I have to make this goofy or I will be hurt” is the way I survived.

The thing is, there are no class clowns left in a fascist society, so in a way this is me saying goodbye. I will still be present here for a long time yet, but the true me is dying right now. I am not a creature that can hide, people burst out laughing when I do and then an ache in my soul reminds me of the lesson I can never forget.

Dr Phil actually has a PHD or master’s (can’t remember which) in psychology, but if I remember right he’s had his license to practice either removed or he hasn’t done the due diligence on his part to maintain it. I can’t remember which. Apparently he also did a lot of sketchy shit with his clients including forming relationships with them prior to his time on TV. Behind the Bastards did a multi-part series on him that’s worth listening to.

The worst part about Dr. Oz is that he was an exceptionally skilled thoracic surgeon, apparently one of the best in a field we are severely lacking skilled practitioners in, and has done hundreds of operations. This is a man who has saved or extended hundreds of lives. He then gave all of that up to sell bullshit weight loss miracles to middle-aged moms. He literally stopped saving lives so he could actively harm others with his bullshit and questionable advice outside of his realm of expertise.

I’d argue that Oz has done more direct harm to people on a larger scale than Dr. Phil could dream of. Again, there is a multi-part series on Behind the Bastards covering him that’s worth a listen.

i did a search, yea he has a PHD, hes only a consultant, so i doubt he can actually do clinical psychology, you need some kind of license for that. i have a cousin with PSY-D so she ok to pratice some form of it. i think you need more certification to start praticing psych.

OZ saw the grift and getting millions per year is much better to him. DR OZ is more akin to actual MDS providing “exaggerated tests” diagnosis, LLMD(chronic lyme doctors) are something in his realm, the way they harm people is PRESCRIBING antibiotics for a non-existent infection, for months or even years, i went down the whole rabbit hole for this one time. plus advising on supplements of plant extracts which causes symptoms.

Time out, why the hate for Bill Nye? Did I miss something or is this just a joke on “people who are less qualified than their titles lead you to believe”? If so, then carry on.

On first read it sounds more like a list of shitty charlatans, of which I wouldn’t really apply to Bill even if he’s not as qualified as he would imply.

I would say, pleasantly, that Bill Nye suffers from one of the classic blunders of academia. Just because you’re smart about one specific niche subject in one specific niche field doesn’t mean you are smart about every subject in every field. Most scientists are quite honestly just as knowledgeable as the rest of us in any field that they didn’t academically study. That sounds like common sense, but once you have a PhD on your name you kind of forget it.

Bill Nye is an expert mechanical engineer, and a middling to decent planetologist. Any subject beyond that and he’s just as good as you or me even though he speaks with an authoritative voice.

Maybe that’s just because I haven’t seen anything from him super recently, so my opinion is biased with rose tinted glasses. What little Ive seen of him he seemed like an alright dude. Then again, that’s easily a tailored image of himself.

I felt like he started in the tradition of Mr. Wizard, who himself was a teacher who didn’t know the intricacies of every science, but knew how to put together a fantastic and accurate demonstration.

But I think Nye is doing talk shows and shit now, which Mr. Wizard, I don’t think, would have tried to sell himself the same way. He really sold education.

A lot of people claim to have had negative interactions with him in the wild, but I haven’t seen any proof yet. I’ve very suspicious that someone’s who educates about the dangerous of climate change has this much hearsay against them. I’ve also heard he gets a lot of off topic questions when he does talks and gets impatient with people. He doesn’t actually claim to be a scientist and if he gets questions that he didn’t prepare for, he’s not going to be able to give good answers.

In regards to the off topic question thing; that just sounds like a fairly normal person. I feel like anyone could get annoyed by being asked constantly about non-relevant stuff. Sure, some folks are very good at handling those things with grace and should be applauded for it, but I feel like that’s a noteworthy exception and not how most folks would react depending on the severity of course.

Phil McGraw is downright, possibly a toxic man to be taking any advice from. There have been longstanding allegations that drugs (maybe alcohol too) have been given to guest on his talk show before taping, while those on medications allegedly have had them withheld before taping. That is on top of the typical toxic workplace behavior that has been reported with similar type of environments.

He isn’t ignorant. He doesn’t care. He’s vindictively robbing all of us blind. They don’t think any of this will be beneficial to any of us. We are not even a consideration.

None of these greedy fucks are doing any of this because they’re incompetent. They’re doing it for $$$ and control, and they’ll get it, because we’re all still typing paragraphs into a social media site instead of murdering all of them.

This is the whole crux of MAHA. Make health a completely personal choice by denying any external causes of disease and then when you completely cut any possible health assistance then that’s fine because health is a completely personal choice and responsibility and people should just try harder to he healthy

It’s “prosperity gospel” but for health instead of wealth. I’m healthy because I’m a good person and you’re not because you’re a bad person. It’s literally the same talking points too. Point at the minority of folks in a demographic who actually make genuinely bad decisions and apply that to the group as a whole.

Didn’t forget the part where you get to blame people for their own illness! Being sick now becomes a moral failing because you didn’t do enough to stay healthy.

But if you do try to stay healthy (e.g. wearing a mask and social distancing during cold and flu season) you’re a $insult_of_the_week

That is absolutely useless advice. Guys, if you are worried about the cuts then simply just make more money to give to your insurance companies! Or ask daddy for a bigger trust fund.
    See, easy.

Right, I’m tired after giving you that FREE advice so I’m off to my second holiday home for a week or two to recharge my batteries before my annual month summer holiday.

Everyone should arbitrarily start boycotting Cheesecake Factory based on this. Eat less cake? OK. Let businesses start complaining. Every service cut should be met with additional consumer strikes.
