  • Not sure I agree about Skylar being meant to be liked.

Despite being an anti-hero, Walter was the protagonist, and the show was presented in such a way that you’re generally rooting for him, even if you don’t really like Walter as a person.

On the other hand, Skylar is pretty much doing the sane and rational thing of trying to make the best of an impossible situation (as you noted), but she’s still impeding or opposing the protagonist for much of the story. Since the story is being told from Walt’s POV, it’s hard to truly like Skylar as a character to the point where you are rooting for her. And that contradiction is part of what made the show interesting IMO.

100% agree though, if you actively dislike Skylar or think she was the worst part of the show, you’ve missed the entire point.

  • 75k is a pittance compared to the damage you could do to another person’s property or life while driving. That’s the whole point of the legally mandated liability insurance–for most people getting in an accident that results in injury to the other party would be financially devastating. And even worse would be having someone hit you and put you through 250k of medical care with no ability to pay.

Thousands of people are injured every day in car accidents in the US and about 100 are killed, so its not some kind of unicorn situation.

If you want to argue about driving being a necessity to live and work, that’s a completely separate discussion from why liability insurance is necessary.

  • Cold air tends to be very dry, which can most definitely irritate your nose and throat (among other body parts). That irritation and drying out can make the thin skin and mucous membranes more vulnerable to attack from bacteria and viruses.

The only really unscientific part of your post is that the cold air itself is not the direct cause of illness.

People with a strong immune system might not see a big difference, but if you are already more susceptible to getting sick, then the link to cold air may be more obvious to you.

  • Having been surprised to see Tool twice in this thread, I think you hit the nail on the head.

Between Maynard’s voice, and the basslines OP mentioned, they definitely have a distinctive sound, and I could see how it could blur together as background / casual listening music. Especially if you listen to mostly mixes ot playlists.

Personally, I almost exclusively listen to music by album, and I think thats where Tool’s songs really become more distinct from each other.

  • Maybe controversial, but despite the rye chips being far and away my favorite part of Gardettos, I actually prefer the mix because then the rye chips are that much tastier when you hit one.

Or maybe its the same kind of illness/cope that causes me to say things like “I actually enjoy living in the midwest, where we get to experience all 4 seasons, versus someplace that’s pleasant and warm all year”

  • Came here to say the same thing. I zoomed in to figure it out, saw the faint skull in the upper left and hoped out.

That is 100% a cursed image. Lures you in with grilled cheese from your sweet Nana, makes you look closer to figure out the perspective, then throws a bunch of creepy shit your way when your guard is down. There is probably some weird writing in the bread texture, or pentagrams in the yellow decoration or shit like that, but I’m not brave enough to keep looking.

  • Man, having worked in a couple research labs in a previous life, there’s no way I’d use a used lab scale for food. Especially when $50 will actually get you a pretty decent scale that has not been potentially used for weighing everything from diseased mice to stool samples to unidentified precipitates from a failed chemical reaction.

Since you’re here to type this, it was probably not used for anything too nasty, but I do not endorse that as a way to save a few bucks!
