  • I don’t understand the not making friends thing. I’ve made a string of friends in the last five years, and continue to do so. And I am a socially awkward, ADHD, anxiety raddled, sometimes annoying as fuck, mess. Maybe it’s because I own it and just stopped caring what people think of me and they can fuck off if they don’t like me being my genuine self? I dunno, all I know is that I do my best to approach people openly, kindly, and treat them like I’d like to be treated back and it largely works for me.

I mean, Wallingford has some awesome peeps too. I’m not “from” here, but was brought into the fold by some locals 15 years ago and have had many house party encounters with people that have lived here their entire lives and families have been here for generations (good buddy of mine has family dating back to the founding of Ballard).

And we are all hanging out all over the city partying. Crocodile, Tractor Tavern, El Corazon, Nectar Lounge, Comet, Columbia City Theater, OG Funhouse, Nuemos & Barboza, and sooo much more.

Seattle is a fun city. And if you can find your peeps, this place will raise you up.

Lost the cheese after I took it out of the fridge, put it down, grabbed a knife, and turned around and it was gone. Started looking for it, forgot what I was doing and why I had a knife. 15 minutes later I’m in the living room shaving a yak with a kitchen knife and my wife walked in, looked at me and asked me why there was a block of cheese on the TV stand, completely ignoring the fact that I’m shaving a yak with a kitchen knife in the living room.

There’s been a push in higher education and professional markets for a STEAM education paradigm over STEM. Especially when you consider that there’s a ton of crossover between tradition STEM education and arts in modern day professionals (User Experience relies on all 5 domains for delivering truly great UX for example).

  • I grew up on the lower end of middle class. Govnment cheese grilled cheese sammies is definitely something I loved eating as a kid. This forced us to be industrious. My parents gardening, did their own DIY home improvements, woodworking, hunting, and more. They weren’t survivalists because of some doomsday shit, but lived this way because we couldn’t afford not to if we wanted to live in a house in a big city suburb in the late 80s & 90s. Over time, my mother took on work utilizing the skills she gained doing the stuff for ourselves and we slowly climbed out of the near poverty life and I was able to have nice things in my teens.

I’m now doing well for myself, solidly middle class in this economy and region. But as things are shifting like crazy around us, I just decided to turn my yard into a garden so I can at least feed myself fresh food if shit becomes unavailable or unsafe to eat. If I have to start hunting again, I will.

I’m not panicking, I’m just going to control what I can, and will do my best to have a good life, and will fight for everybody else to have a chance at a good life too.

  • Fun fact: Many cultural artificats do go on tour!

For example I’ve seen both Pompeii & King Tutt exhibits in San Diego that have since rotated. I’ve also seen other traveling exhibits in several other major cities I’ve lived in that were far more than art.

Many cities also have free admission days to museums for people that live nearby (depends on the institution but it could be for City/County/State).

With this knowledge, you too, can now learn and explore societies that predate written word.

Or create leaf mold (a pile of sticks and leaves) in targeted areas of your yard/property that are ideal for breeding fireflies and other desired native insects/spiders. Especially if you live in an HOA community that requires reqular raking and can hide the leaves under bushes/shrubs/trees/garden beds as mulch.

Raking of leaves isn’t really the problem so much as is the complete removal of leaves from the property & neighborhood (which also removes the nutrients from the local top soil).

  • No credit IS bad credit.

You don’t have to carry debt to have a credit history, but you do have to use credit to have a credit history. If you haven’t used the system, they have no knowledge of your crdit worthiness.

I use credit cards as a tool to protect my finances and purchases (fraud protection is greater with CCs than a bank account/card, as well as being able to dispute transactions where service was failed to be delivered or inadequate). I also always pay off my statement balance in full every month.

I do my best to only buy things I can afford to pay in full, but a home and automobile can be exceptions to that (even though I bought my auto in full due to a financial windfall). But I still participate in the system to gain the benefits of the system

www.nerdwallet.com is a great resource on credit education and provides a wealth of tools for starting build your bad credit to good credit.
