Astonishing that they would think replacing someone else’s human-written title with an AI generated one would be a good idea. There’s just no lengths they won’t go to to shove AI everywhere humanly possible.
They have to find it’s use, they’ve sunk tens of Billions, if not hundreds of billions (collectively) into LLMs. If they don’t find a good used they’ll find an unavoidable use and shove it into our lives, just so their risky investments aren’t a total, immediate loss. Microsoft can force it into the most used OS in the world because it’s a huge endeavour to drop windows. Any LLM without a service or product to use it with will probably look to buy some or lock in deals with companies, or governments, that do. Like if the MAGA US gov sells exclusive LLM service rights to Elon’s Grok so Grok locks in a pig trough of money from tax payers to offset the shitty investment, even if their LLM is useless.
Microsoft is why antitrust is so fucking necessary. Not for healthy ‘competition’ but so we don’t suffer the liabilities of bad investments or grant so much leverage to private interests whose only ambitions is becoming the ruler of the world.
Nooooooooo… Google would nnnnnneverrrrr…
That all these major companies insist on using AI for these completely worthless features that actively make their products worse I think shows that not even they (the companies involved in AI development) know what to do with AI. Like, it really doesn’t matter that this was an “experiment” supposedly. It should have been obvious to anyone with a brain that this was a bad idea, but they did it anyway.
