I feel like if people like this person were in power, they would also start checking people’s social media for wrongthink. I found over the years that the people who care about social media the most tend to be the most fragile and sensitive people you’ll ever come across. Trump’s check this box, but so do so many other people.

Honestly, if you spend that much time on social media, would i want to be friends with you?

What has time to do with anything? You can spend one hour a month on social media and still make your disdain for Trump and MAGA clear.

Why would i want to be friends with people that place such a value on social media?

Mine would get me barred, which is why I deleted voyager and metatext from my phone as I prepare to travel abroad. If they want to look at the facebook account I have not updated the past decade, then whatever.

I don’t consider reddit/lemmy as social media. The lack of ‘necessity’ of having your personal info plastered about and inserted into every exchange makes them something different. They’re just a different form of forum, in my opinion, with nested comments instead of a long chain.

I never considered reddit/lemmy social media myself. The anonymity of it just feels different. Just because im online doesnt mean its social media (to me.)

I can play video games online, and post in their group chats, but thats not social media either. I tend to draw the line around anonymity and topics. If were not talking about individuals, and their experiences, and interests, in the target to promote that person, i dont think its social media

But you can also be anti social and just bark on lemmy. So it’s not 100% social media (at least I don’t consider it as such).

Yeah I never really got the whole “forums aren’t social media” thing. Only difference I’ve ever seen is lacking a need for followers which I guess for a lot of people is enough.

I am a bit torn. I think social media has kinda moved from things like forums and chatrooms, to twitter/Instagram and so on.

Forums are a part of social media, but when asking about someones social media accounts or activity, you don’t really go to what forums they are on, it’s always ticktok or Facebook.

You could also say that comment sections under articles are social media as well, but that’s not the typical association with the term.

The term ‘social media’ became popularized when ‘online bulletin boards’ started to really incentivize building a strong personal profile (with lots of social connections, likes et.c.). Even if a traditional forum is technically social media, it’s not what we associate with the term and the psychology of using it is quite different.

I think that comes down to what the primary purpose of the site is. News media is mostly about disseminating information with their comment sections being a sad, withering afterthought where nothing of value ever happens.

US boarder agents - show me you Facebook

ME: I deleted it in 2016

BA: okay show me your insta

    ME: I don’t have insta

    BA: wtf.jpg, okay Twitter?

    ME: nope.

BA: visibly frustrated … Reddit then?

ME: deleted that account when they fucked over 3rd party apps.

BA: writing refused to comply, rejected.

Same, but if they’re trained to look for the Voyager icon I could be in “trouble”

But for now, this is the last place I can say it:

I hope Trump is hanged for treason and violently shits himself to death out of fear and panic in the seconds before the noose snaps. And then a buncha hand-scrawled notes confessing his pedophelia, sexual assaults, rapes, and love for AOC’s feet fall from his pockets

Honestly true. Especially with how angry these snowflakes get about the smallest things.

Did you truly life, if you didn’t make at lease one passing reference to that “I have read some obituaries with great pleasure” quote about Trump? Don’t think so.

It’s not “Trump’s USA”, he’s just one tiny, orange facet of the same beast, which is world-wide (with USA being the source).

NVIDIA, Apple, Amazon, Walmart, et al find Trump very useful as he is motivated by greed alone.

How so? USA is money central, the capital of the biggest economy since at least WW2.

I’m not saying the original source, I didn’t mean to imply that. I think that would be the banks if I had to pick just one.

Who do you think is the source today or how far do you go back?

          Ha! I guess.

Based on what we learned in the very short window when Twitter let people see location information about specific accounts, I think we can trace a lot of Trump’s “grassroots” support back to Russia.

Russia has a much smaller economy, not even equivalent to California.

I think you give them too much credit, Trump even played a rich businessman on TV; he’s an “ideal” Republican candidate (name recognition and for sale to highest bidder)
