Last time I checked Argentina was wold cup champion and Brazil got humiliated by Germany 7:1. So it’s Soccer Mexico and Samba Mexico.

Don’t these scores just mean that one country had better luck in the international player trafficking market that year?

Poor brazil. They have gone up against germany since then, and definitely cleared away the poor results from that one match.

It’s hard for racists to differentiate people with brown skin. They just all come from Brownskinistan.

I laughed when I saw “Soccer Mexico”.

It’s called football. Let’s do the math.

    Foot + ball = football

    Rugby + kicking = footrugby.

    Don’t @ me.

Soccer is a British shortening of ‘association football.’ Aka association rules football.

In the 1860-90s, one of several competing games / variants of the same gsme all called football including rugby, then called rugby football (rugby being the name of the town/ school that game was popularized in)

American and canadian football are variants off of this version of ‘rugby football,’ Eventually dropping the name rugby (as they no longer had much association to that locale) british rugby, and its other variants, eventually dropped the football from their name.

Technically though, for the game we generally think of as football, association rules football, (which again, soccer is just a shortening of) is the proper name. For instance, If you look up fifa, their name is Fédération Internationale de Football Association literally the international association football federation.

And there are still other similar games that use football in the term, including american/ gridiron, Australian rules/ footy, and Gaelic football

Just calling it football is technically using a term for all of those sports. Association football, or ‘soccer’ is the actual sport and rules we all mean.

As a Latin American I find this deeply offensive and would like to clarify to people that when you talk like that… you make a woman go mad… So be wise (Sí!) and keep on (Sí!) Reading the signs of my body.
