I don’t trust any American politician in a position of power (because I’ve seen what America does to leaders they don’t like around the world…) but I’m glad he’s said it, even if it’s just “his brand” and he doesn’t really care. Someone’s got to speak some sense, for whatever reason it might be.

I love Zoharn. I just wish New York wasn’t as stuck up as it is. I tried to go to a bar in jeans and a tshirt and they rejected me. Why? My money is good enough. Their cocktails were only $19 so it’s not a fancy place.

I much prefer Seattle for the culture vibes. But I miss the 24/7 transit.

Only $20 bucks for two nips of spirits mixed in some sugared fruit juice.

      Sounds like great value

AFAIK, a lot of Iranian-Americans go by “Persian” because there was already such a stigma associated with the name Iran.

A lot of those people are actually ultra-racist, which is why they emphasize Persian. They hate Iranian Lurs, Balochis, Turks, Arabs, Kurds. They hate their American/Western counterparts too. And don’t gt them started on Black people.

They’re just racists who think they’re the top White race, true Aryans.

Normal Iranians are not like that. Iran is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural by history as well as by its National myth.

Just wanted to add some clarity on the term Persian. Persian is an ethnicity, the majority ethnicity in Iran. So one could be Iranian (citizenship) and Persian (ethnicity), or Australian (citizenship) and Persian (ethnicity).

I think a lot of people use it instead of Iranian. Technically it might be an ethnicity. But, for example, I can find restaurants that advertise having Afghani food but no restaurants with Pashtun or Tajik food, restaurants with Syrian food but not Arabic or Kurdish restaurants, etc. But, while most restaurants go by the name of the country, not the ethnic group, there are no Iranian restaurants, only Persian ones.

Rhetorically, yes, but keep in mind every politician under capitalism needs funding, and regardless of what politicians may think they’re extremely limited in what they can do.

We’ll have to wait and see, but I see why some people are frustrated with him seeing as he started backtracking on anti-imperialist rhetoric during his campaign (ex: didn’t push back when during an interview someone was smearing Cuba and Venezuela, and also moderated his speech on Palestine to the point he sounds like a liberal Zionist), then he let the Zionist police commissioner in power, etc.

Whether he’s personally anti-elite or not is irrelevant because he’s still forced to play ball with those very same people if he wants to get any concessions for the people in NYC, in the epicenter of financial capitalism. To me he seems like a regular socialdemocrat, very charismatic and charming, but a socialdemocrat.

You need to actually explain your position and provide context because no one knows what you are talking about.

He’s failing my secret purity test. I can’t tell you what the purity test is, because it’s secret! If I told you what my purity test was, he might find out and pass it. But, if he passed it because someone told him what it was, that wouldn’t count. So, all I can tell you is that he failed it! Trust me bro!
