Trump has done many things against the emoluments clause. It doesn’t matter.

The people are stupid and put corrupt/stupid people in charge. It’s going to take smart people a lot more time and effort to restore basic sanity in a system that’s being tested non-stop.

I’m gonna cackle if this turns out to be a five-d chess move from the Qataris to make sure they can kill the US president whenever they want.

Would you use ‘shady’ to describe all foreign states or just the Arab ones?

I don’t think Qatar, after the whole slavery scams and worker deaths that hit the news for the FIFA World Cup, is the one you want to be defending here. They are shady, regardless what region they are in.

Also, false dichotomy. Not all foreign states are shady, some non-Arab foreign states can be shady, and Qatar could still be shady.

The very same foreign government who hacked Jeff Bezos phone and assassinated a US citizen. Both of which happened during Trumps first term.

Conservatism explained as “there must be out-groups to bind and in-groups to protect” is pretty good, but someone recently said it’s just “what’s good for me and mine right now?”. Similar idea, different angle. I think this explains much.

Conservatives don’t care about hypocrisy because it doesn’t enter into “what’s good for me and mine right now?” Pointing out that they’re being a hypocrite matters as much as someone saying to you “Your sentence wasn’t alphabetical”. It’s just not a thing they care about, just like you typically don’t think about the ordering of your words.

They’re not showing fealty by providing money or luxury items. They’re showing how cheap he is to buy. The optics are worth far more than the gifts.

    • Personally, I don’t care on that front. If they remotely turn it off in the air, good. Trump’s taking it with him when he leaves, and no other president is likely be stupid enough to trust it even if he didn’t.

Now, the fact that it’s probably just one giant listening device… I guess I’d be concerned about, but they’re not likely to learn much from listening to Senile Saddam ramble nonsense while he gropes the flight attendants.

      Where’s the tarriffs?

Why not have Americans build a fancy new air force one?

I can only see one point of Trump doing this deal.

      Spite.

He is still pissed off that his new livery design won’t be part of the VC-25Bs, and he will now have his own jet that will be managed outside of normal channels, just so he can get a few photo ops as the first president to fly a private 747-800, that will probably be painted in the livery that he approved.

According to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, trump doesn’t qualify to be king president. Everyone grasping at The Constitution to save them, but that ship has long since sailed.

It’s frustrating. He’s done more than enough to get rid of him multiple times over and nothing has happened yet, but they’re all still checking the laws with every new bullshit thing he does. Fucking why? You didn’t do anything the thousand other times he blatantly broke the fucking law.

Nah, he’s never betrayed his class, capitalism, etc. He’s completely serving hegemony like his predecessors. That’s the actual purpose of the enslavers’ pact. This racist wacko might be the most american president since before the civil war.

    Just gonna keep posting this:

    “It’s vile.”
    They want it that way.

    “It’s inhumane.”
    They want it that way.

    “It’s dangerous.”
    They want it that way.

    “It’s criminal.”
    They want it that way.

    “It’s illegal.”
    They want it that way.

The current administration is doing all the evil because…they want it that way.

That’s actually already standard for airplanes, (well, combustible jet fuel, not explosive). Hence why we have so many safety systems to ensure that they don’t remotely crash or explode.
