Wow I had not heard of a technical pen, they sound interesting. I’ve been using an OHTO ceramic roller gel refill in my Rotring and Parker pens because I like the tactile feel with lowish resistance.

Agreed. I’ve stated it before in other threads, and I’ll say it again here, but if they asked me in 5 years to pay another $89 or whatever in continuing support for a badge on my server I’d happily do it. Plex is really good. Great UI, great apps, great external enrichments like trailers/subtitles/ratings/actor info, and Plexamp is 9.5/10 for music.

Their biggest fault is how they communicated about the change for remote users. I did have a few family members get the email and ask if they were going to have to start paying monthly now, but they’ve never been on a free server. They should have stated more clearly than if you were on a Plex Pass server that no change is required.

For software I like made by people getting paid, I was happy to pay the one time fee. It’s really good, secure, and downloads are fast now.

I believe ARM will be the future, developers should not ignore it. Qualcomm has been doing the Snapdragon Elite processors in Windows laptops for a bit now, and they are quite snappy - there is definitely something there. LTT had mostly positive reactions to the Snapdragon laptops they tested, and Apple silicone Macs are just so insanely powerful.

I told my help desk manager at work that I would like to be the pilot user when we start getting Surface laptops with the Snapdragon Elite processors. My past 3 work-issued HP Elitebooks (860 G6/G8/G11) on Intel have all been so disappointing.

I am from the US and have been referring to the dumb people around me as donuts recently. Still not exactly sure what this means to people in the UK, but it seems nicer than the words I was using previously.

I have the same setup with Picard --> mp3tag, it works very well for me. I prefer to overwrite the artist field with the album artist field for cleaner sync to my iPods with MediaMonkey (iPods handled multiple artists in the worst way imaginable).

Picard did take some light up front tweaking to get the directory naming to albumartist\yyyy - albumname\01 songtitle.flac but it was worth it

Totally agree. Gun issues need to be off the table entirely until sanity has returned to government. Dems need to focus on making normal government operations and improving living standards as exciting as the threat of taking over Canada.

So many times in GTA V I had no idea how to trigger the next mission. I would probably go back to it and play through if it had some sort of indicator for how to trigger the next campaign mission.

For audiobooks check out Audiobookshelf. On my NAS I run it in Container Manager (Docker) and get the image directly from the built-in repo. I check for image updates every few weeks, though only to keep compatibility with the apps, as I don’t notice new features. Very easy to set up, just make sure your folders are named correctly.

I’m coming up on 5 years as a Plex pass owner, so my users and I will not be impacted by this change. In five more years if they asked me nicely to pay another $89 to support the service I would. Send me some stickers and put a badge on my server. I get a lot of use out of the software/service, as do my family members.

I will say, I am quite annoyed at the wording and audience of this email. Jellyfin is just not an option for me until there is excellent feature parity with Plex. I know they are a lot of Jellyfin fans here, in my opinion, Plex is a significantly better experience for me.

I really love my Synology NAS (DS220+). I don’t anticipate needing to replace it anytime soon, but given how well it’s treated me, I would almost certainly replace it with a 2024 model instead of a newer one if I had to, given this new limitation.

This decision from them seems short-sighted, I hope they reverse it.

I can only remember one 45 minute outage caused by Comcast in 4 years at my house, before that I can’t even remember one. The rest of the time it’s been storms/power - things that would knock out other wireline providers. People shit on Comcast, but it’s plenty reliable these days. I’ll just use my phone’s hotspot and save the $4800 over 4 years.

What about these voters makes them unable to sympathize with others when it happens to them? I don’t work in the federal government, but I feel very sad for them when I see them getting fired and their agencies disassembled.

I think maybe you could consider putting this into perspective. One accident among tens of millions of cups of coffee and tea served really isn’t cause for pitchforks and reforms, it’s just life, and unfortunate accidents happen. I hope the guy in the car recovers.

A fair question. Black tea is the most prevalent type of tea across the world. Recently after seeing a news story about Indian Kulhads (single use ceramic cups) I did some searching about what teas different regions drink, and most regions seem to drink regular black tea with some preferring black tea with spices. I don’t think the masses would accept 145° oolong at twice the price for the sole reason of lowering their risk of scalding burns.

I get if you are doing something different personally, but its literally the recommendation on the box. When I was learning about coffee I found that water into the brew basket or pour over at 185 would produce a terrible sour flavor, and that is well known in specialty coffee. Tea seems to be more forgiving, but I still let my water hit a boil before I brew mine. I’m all for ganging up on mega-corps and watching them squirm when a lawsuit comes around, but it may have been a bit extreme to call my statement false. If Starbucks did anything wrong here, to me it was the cup not being seated in the carrier, not the water temperature.
