Good. We have enough problems with our own home grown Nazis without inviting nutters from the United States.

I don’t know much about Candace aside from her embracing conspiracies like a cat to catnip. Like certain goose stepping groups who’d treat her like royalty if she were allowed in now.

Yeah, I like the idea of keeping them here to live in the hellhole they’re making. It’s bullshit that they get to turn this country into a nightmare and bop off to tropical vacations while we try to keep people from dying from their shitty decisions. (I work in healthcare and get to try to convince people to get vaccines. It’s a painful conversation to have multiple times a day.)

Fucc em, if you literally work in healthcare and they can’t be convinced after the first 3 minutes. Just let them be. Who gives a shit at this point. If they die, they die.

It’s not. But you’re also not the child’s parent or legal guardian. We live in an era of easily accessible medical information and with people like you, who are willing to share your knowledge to help them. If none of that can convince them, forget it. We can’t keep letting these people play in our faces with their willingly ignorance.

If you’ve never actually watched a child die from a preventable cause, I can see why you would be more willing to give up on fighting the parents on these things. I worked at a pediatric level 1 trauma emergency room before starting medical school. I have watched far too many children die because of some stupid mistake/decision their parent made to be willing to let it go.

Having to do chest compressions on a baby that went into respiratory arrest then cardiac arrest because of a vaccine preventable illness does something to you…and if it doesn’t? Something is seriously wrong with you.

Honestly, I view this as a crimson lining to a civil war. MAGA is just not something that I want in my nation, and would like it to be gone. Unfortunately, a Carebear stare or MLP rainbow of absolution are not options. At this point, I think that death is the only jailcell that can reliably keep MAGA from causing further damage.

No that would be north Queensland.

South Australia is historically quite progressive, seems an odd place to launch a Christian nationalist movement.

Yeah South Australia has done some amazingly progressive things. They were the first jurisdiction in the world to give women the right to vote AND run for parliament in 1894 and when Australia voted No on creating a federal Indigenous Voice to Parliament, they were the first state to set up their own state-based Voice of elected Aboriginal peoples.

              Some other progressive firsts:

They were the first Australian colony to accept legal testimony from Aboriginal peoples in 1844; the first part of the British Empire to cut links between church and state in 1851; the first Australian state to give Aboriginal men the right to vote in 1856; the first part of the British Empire to legalise trade unions in 1876; the first Australian state to decriminalise homosexuality in 1975; and the first Australian state to make age-based discrimination illegal in 1991.

I, too, find it really odd that Turning Point has found a hold there. They’ve typically been quite progressive - even their Liberal governments are usually far more progressive than the Libs around the rest of the country.

A guy I used to know, around 2016 started a weird descent in to conservative politics. It was understandable at the time, Clinton was genuinely an unlikable candidate and he was a morally dubious guy. So it at least made sense at the time. By 2017 he seemed to regret it and we all moved on.

Then in 2020, holy shit. It took literally nothing to bait him in to a political diatribe half a notch up from gibberish. He had invented so many straw men to argue with that the second you mentioned anything even conceivably political, he’d launch in to a bizarre assault on the left.

Thing is, he’d accuse me and others of loving Joe Biden even though x, y, z whatever nonsense he wanted to argue about. He’d even make up quotes. Things I’d supposedly said about Biden that proved I really liked the guy.

I’m so far to the left that Marx might think I go too far. I don’t, and never have, liked Joe Biden. Joe Biden handed Clarence Thomas a seat on the supreme Court and openly defended him against his sexual assault allegations. He went to bat for that guy in a way that really makes no fucking sense, politically or personally, unless Joe Biden had done it too.

        I can’t name a Democrat I actually like.

So every time I see comments like this, I’m reminded that conservatives just have a forest of straw men they’re arguing with, and any opportunity the bullshit that lives inside their head can find to spill out in to the real world they’ll take. Regardless of how idiotic it makes them sound.

I’m in a similar boat, but I have a couple Democrats in my state that I think are good eggs. For one, Tim Walz has been an amazing governor and I really hate what the Harris campaign did to him and his reputation. Also, Ilhan Omar and Peggy Flanagan are pretty nifty all around. Outside Minnesota, AOC seems pretty decent to me and I have high hopes for Mamdani (although, he explicitly identifies as a Democratic Socialist)

Pandemic broke peoples mind, being stuck inside, having to mask up, and the propaganda msm, and grifters had more time to expose people to the right. also the constant news about trump for 4 years have given too much exposure to people.

a bunch of asian ytubers i used to followed were almost to the far-right, but had enough sense to be more humble, but only up til the pandemic, it broke thier minds, they turned thier frustation inward, stagnation of thier channel, thier problems with employees, which culminated in them firing a female employee, and now desperately tries to shill for the right wing audiences to stay relevent; its mostly incel asians and muslim men, plus a smattering parasocial female fans, eventhough they were very mysogynistic towards thier former female employees that disagreed with them. they even had TULSI gabbard on thier channel as part of the shill, just right before the election, this bitch trying to get exposure for the campaign for trump through them.

Ms. Owens I don’t really think she’s that conservative. She was hot on the trail of Charlie Kirk’s real killer. There’s a lot of evidence saying it was a coordinated act. The father’s construction company apparently paved over the concrete and area where Mr. Kirk was fatally shot. Not a lot of time to gather evidence from a crime scene.

She timed the series of events and found the alleged gunman’s timeline to be odd. I agree. Plus I still think members of the same secret service that faked trumps first “assassination attempt” were coordinating watches moments before his fatal shooting. The same agents. Something doesn’t add up.

Poor Owens is actually intelligent versus the gaggle of yucks on Fox News.
