So happy that I’m blessed to not like 95% of online multiplayer games, or mostly the competitive ones. People cry about not having CoD and Overwatch, and I just sleep easy knowing that none of the games my mom and I play are affected 😌
More people need to like RPGs and single player games man
Overwatch can be run on Linux no problem. The shitty matchmaker though has buried the game for me anyways
The new Call of Duty games do some SCP level containment for everyone sane in this hobby. Let Windows have that!
presses F to that
“I’m going to buy a new PC”
“But you already have one with better specs?”
“But this one has the logo for my favourite monopoly”
The irony that some people still think that the Gabe Cube is for people that already have top-end gaming PCs… Or any PC to begin with.
Bo7 sucks anyway.
I still gotta dual boot for Battlefield :(
I definitely want it. If it’s cheap, I definitely want two.
Actually everything they recently announced looks great. I really want to try to frame.
I gave up on VR after the oculus CV1 got canned. I bought one, got a few decent years out of it in spite of “meta” buying the company and making it shit, but when they stopped selling the connection cables for the CV1, which was the part that broke most frequently, I just backed the hell off and thought to myself, “this shit is cool, but it’s clearly not established enough to be predictable, maybe some day”.
Whelp, I think we’re finally there.
Until now, you had the “option” of either something mainstream like the quest 7 (or whatever number they’re on), or you can pick from either the index, which was on the pricy side for what you were getting, or the bigscreen beyond, which required an iPhone to scan your face so they can make a custom face shield just for you (and to get more you had to scan those people in and get face shields for them at a premium). Anything else was so niche that you probably were not getting support, if the company even existed in a few years to support you.
Now? A first party VR that actually looks good and works natively with steam…
So yeah… Where do I sign up?
I’ve wanted a steam deck for years but I don’t game on the go so I can’t really justify it, but the rig I’m using for couch gaming is getting pretty dated… So this seems like a great time to get back into everything… Though, finding the money I need to get the systems is going to be a challenge…
Would 700-800€ be cheap to you? That’s a reasonable estimate I’ve seen.
Probably not. That’s basically a full week of take home pay for me.
I’m buying either the Framework Desktop or Steam Machine, whichever is cheaper.
I’m with you. When I heard about the deck I was excited. When I got one, I was not prepared for how good it is. The quality is amazing. They thought of (it seems) basically everything.
And I’m hoping this translates to all the new shit. Exciting!
I’m pretty sure there are a lot of Call of Duty games that do work on Linux
Only the ones worth playing.
With emulation, even more.
Black Ops 3 zombies is all me and my friends need! :)
I’m personally buying the controller
I just bought a 10m HDMI cable. Almost 30€.
No League of Legends either. Truly a wonderful system.
It runs Dota 2.
Now, I am a huge fan of Dota 2. But it sucked up so much of my free time.
I used to play LoL, and Dota is by far more addictive.
Heroes of the Storm also works in Lutris
And it sucks so much more than LoL.
Even for casual play it’s just not good.
It used to work, and now it doesn’t.
Good riddance.
My problem with Windows is the kernel level anticheat that comes with online games. On linux these anticheats only have user privileges, and still allow you to play online. That alone is just such a massive advantage that the ~10 games that don‘t run on Linux are negligible to me. Also it‘s the publisher‘s choice they only work on Windows so fuck ’em!
Sure. But Window’s itself already has Kernel level access. So, I feel like if you’re running Windows the issue of some gaming company having kernel level access is much less concerning to me than a genocide supporting software weapons manufacturer.
Like, I’m against the gaming companies having kernel access. But if you’re running Windows in 2025 you’re already sharing all of your data with one of the most malicious companies that exists. Microsoft is currently on the level of the many American companies that worked with the Nazis. I guess my point is that Riot having access to my keystrokes is the least of my concerns if I’m on Windows.
Edit: Speaking as a former Microsoft employee.
We’ve got CS2 tho.
and DOTA!
I love the sentiment, but… a custom pc running windows is likely to be cheaper and more wise.
Ah, the eternal repost
You can absolutely play Call of Duty on Linux… and Call of Duty 2!!!
I actually only played the original Call of Duty and the sequel on PC when they released 🤣
What about bad company?
Oh no, it looks like I can’t play Black Ops 7. :(
I can only play Black Ops I, II, and III. :(
What am I going to do? :(
EDIT: /S
Play the nazi zombie mode?
What am I going to do? :(
Play Black Ops I, II, and III!
You don’t need the new Black Ops when Black Ops 3’s modding community is very lively with some great fan made zombies maps and modes. Definitely check them out if you haven’t already
