Two be fair many other countries have the same issue but it doesn’t have such horrendous consequences because they don’t have a two party system.

IMHO countries that claim to be democracies should switch to Lottocracy anyway. That’s the only way we end up with decision makers that don’t just do stuff to get voted again.

The two party system is all too common in way too many countries; a good chunk of us has probably spent most of our lives, and will probably spend the rest of them, seeing stupid people being elected because the alternative is another clown from the other team. What nobody else has is the firepower of the next 20 nations combined. To the surprise of absolutely fucking nobody, too much power can turn you into a bully. The US military complex needs to be dismantled by the rest of the imperial core or the imperial core won’t last much longer, and let’s not even get started with the UN.

The rest of NATO needs to step up and make a military exercise off the coast of Canada as a show of force that it shouldn’t be messed around with even among allies.

Canada itself should start a military exercise where it practises laying landmines. No need to practise picking them up though, there’s plenty of time for that later.

That would be a violation of the Ottawa treaty.

And landmines don’t actually stop an army, they just slow it down and inhibit maneuver.

The supplementary reserve of 300,000 citizen soldiers that’s being planned is a better idea. There would be no stopping a US invasion, but 300,000 resistance fighters ensures the US would lose the occupation, as it usually does.

I would say stop selling the potash so there’s a famine. The one thing that causes all dictators to be overthrown from within, is a couple missed meals in a row. The whole world should get Americans to fight America by shutting then off from sustenance until the mess they created is cleaned.

        Petrocan

Go Canada computers instead of best buy

        Gem

Kobo instead of kindle or audible.

Lmao, straight up he’s got no fucking attention span or patience. He’s just going in circles pushing on issues, trying to find one that will budge with just mean words rather than having to spend money or do anything material.

He wants some sort of “win” something concrete he can point to and say “look how much we’re winning” because his poll numbers are in the toilet. He’s surrounded him self with incompetent yes men who keep failing to give him meaningful results, and he’s terrified of losing the house and senate in 11 months.

What would you suggest we do?

Only one thing will help, to organize. Methinks innumerable groups on a general forum cooperating on what they agree on. Federated, it could be fediverse, should be, we just need to get started.

Cooperating publicly and privately as we see fit, we could find and groom good candidates for 2028. Ones suppoeting popular reform. It would not take that many people for that end.

Get a gun for self defense and go to the range at least once a month. Organize community watches and mutual aid networks with your neighbors. Start creating relationships which pull away from the central supply chain, form community networks to supply needs and services locally and mutually: tool library, seed library, multiple large community gardens (no I’m not naive enough to think this will replace a grocery store), and any other services that are needed.

If you have the means, buy another gun, preferably a rifle or shotgun. Train with that. Start encouraging others in your community to arm themselves for self defense. Form a well organized militia.

Distribute organizing to others so you don’t burn out. Help others start their journey of community action. Then they start book clubs to read theory and praxis, then they can teach foraging techniques. Eventually, others in your community are learning skills which you didn’t have time for or didn’t interest you. That’s the point of community, not everyone has to be good at everything. Now you have people who can set up a local intranet with copper wires and servers to maintain crucial information offline, in case the internet goes down or is shut off by the government. You have those who can knit faster than you’ve ever seen and are providing socks and hats for everyone.

The Utopian and end goal of all this is to form resilient and thriving communities not dependent on the state and corporations for their needs. And yes, that would take a long time to get there. But for me, my admittedly Herculean dream is eventually those community gardens would become vertical farms and inspire other communities to practice the same. The construction crews in your area would become coops and with their needs provided would slowly start doing community projects, that the doctors and teachers would separate themselves from the state apparatus and serve their neighbors in mutual methods, bringing their passion and skills into the community.

But even if we don’t get to that end stage, or if that doesn’t appeal to you, mutual aid is still wonderful and any bit of it is beneficial and forms networks of trust. I’m not saying don’t vote, but know that the state and powerful are counting on you to place your trust in that one action and nothing else. Don’t give them that satisfaction.

Do you think complaining on the internet will fix things?

Voting is an action people can do. Once people are able to do some form of action, they could be encouraged to further action. Americans are currently below the bar of even voting. You think they’re going to do more than voting if they can’t even do that?

Y’all are so much in love with the romanticized myth of the American revolution you believe that if you write some pretty words about freedom and equality there will be another “clean revolution” that will solve all of your problems. The reality is that your “founding fathers” were slave masters, their pretty words were hypocrisy meant to fool regular people into fighting and dying so that the wealthy slave masters could get wealthier by killing the indigenous people living to the west and taking their land. People were tortured for any dissent, there were massive numbers of refugees from the US during the revolution because of how oppressive the government was.

All of your rights actually came from voting, not from the bullshit fairy tale about “founding fathers” they indoctrinated you into believing from a very young age.

Democrats being captured by big money ultimately caused it. Throwing elections. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise, this was always going to result with these dems leading the opposition.

Without a new deal, and some aggressive party machining at this point, there is zero chance of avoiding a fascist one party kakistocracy.

We’ll that would be an interesting front on the upcoming war with the rest of NATO.

Seems like fucking with Canada would not be the best idea. Didn’t work out so well for America the last time it happened (the war of 1812). And this time Canada would have more allies in the fight than just a small contingent of the Britain military and some of the native American tribes.

No. For too long your geese have flouted our border conteols with impunity. While you hide behind your fake politey. I say build the wall! /s

Seriously though canada hosts some of the worst corporarions in the world, mining conglomerates responsible for untold atrocities worldwide.

Then they have an ageing oil pipeline under the straits of mackinac, it is a when it bursts, using corrupt influence on our captured judiciary to prevent shutting it down, or even putting pressure cut off switches so if there is a leak or rupture it automatically gets cut off.

This same company, Enbridge, already had a large spill in battle creek they corruptly avoided cleaning up, same year as deepwater horizon in the gulf.

      Not so polite indeed, eh?

Yeah, and American oil companies are the poster children of environmentalism. And if Al Gore and Ralph Nader tag-teamed Greta Thurnberg, had a baby, put it up for adoption, and had it raised by Captain Planet himself, you wouldn’t have someone who cares more about the environment than Donald J Trump.

All multinationals are as shitty as governments allow them to be I’m afraid, and despite canada’s reputation, like switzerland, of being progressive, they host some of the worst companies in the world alongside the US and others. The entire west has been corrupted in the past half century, all major parties seized by monied interests and ratcheting our societies to plutocracy, and that action ultimately pulls us to fascism without a popular reform option outside of fascists now backed by the two superpowers, fully intent on helping them fix themselves in power permanently.

He’s actually taking a much softer stance on Canada, and that’s worth paying attention to.

Oh, I’m not saying he has benevolent intentions toward Canada, lol.

But he’s not looking to get us particularly riled either.

One, he wants to keep tensions with Europe away from his border.

Two, he is deathly afraid that real Americans that haven’t drunk his kool-aid will have a place to flee, regroup and fight.
