hey #fediverse, what is your favorite group of movies or shows that are in the same universe?
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Watching BCS now. Never seen BB but I heard if you like the pacing of BCS, you might not like BB, is this true?
I LOVE the slow narrative of BCS.
Cloverfield movies. The same universe told from different perspectives.
I’m one of the twelve people on lemmy who likes Marvel.
Add me and consider yourself a baker!
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
I actually quite like the MCU, especially Loki and Doctor Strange, any of the more magical-ish stuff. I even really like the avengers and Captain America stuff. I just have to shut off the political side of my brain sometimes to enjoy them, otherwise the Americaganda gets to me and bugs me.
@Okokimup@lemmy.world i don’t hate it but it’s not my favorite
Ok, so, this is my favorite, not because I love the shows, although I do like some of them, but because it’s fun to chain links and how long you can make it.
We start with the “Munchiverse”, most people know Detective John Munch from his long career in
Law & Order SVU, and obviously all of the Law and order are in the same universe, but also they’ve had crossovers withChicago Firewhich is in the same universe asChicago PDand others. They’ve also had crossovers withFBIandNew York Undercover. But I said this is the Munchiverse, and I only mentioned Munch once, this is where it gets interesting,X-Fileshas an episode where detective John Munch shows up, he also shows up inArrested DevelopmentandThe Beat. And going one extra link X-Files is canonically set in the same universe asTwin peaks. Going back to Munch, he’s originally from another TV show calledHomicide: Life on the street, and in that TV show they investigate a doctor from the TV showSt. Elsewhere, in that TV show someone mentions working with a Dr fromM.A.S.H. I’m sure more links could be made.Comments like this are exactly why I love Lemmy.
@Nibodhika@lemmy.world the munchiverse!
Daredevil show, Luke Cage show, and Jessica Jones show. Not the old time stuff. This was on Netflix not that long ago.
Yeah, I watched them all. Shame they fumbled on the continuations.

The MCU
X-files and Twin Peaks.
That’s a damn fine choice.
@Theprogressivist@lemmy.world wait, what??? holy shit, TIL
Eureka and Warehouse 13.
This is a great example! Two totally separate shows about weird stuff and then they just do a cross over at a certain point and now they’re linked.
Kingsman and kickass movies technically, the comics are mostly ass but I like the crossover
I love Lucy/superman.
I’d have to go with Bladerunner/Firefly/Alien/Predator all being in the same universe.
What’s the link between Firefly and the other ones?
Weyland-Yutani
Is that really the same universe though or is it just an Easter egg?
TIL.
Not really in the same universe technically, but sci-fi movies made by James Cameron and Ridley Scott tend to use the same aesthetic/tech as they didn’t in the Alien franchise so I have personally decided it’s all the same universe. If it had a Power Loader Mech or an Android, it counts.
Alien, Aliens, Avatar, Raised by Wolves, Blade Runner, whatever lol
Weyland Yuyani exists in Predator too, so obviously those are also in the same universe.
Stargate.
Indeed
So say we all
@iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works stargate and… ?
Stargate is a complete answer to the question.
Just Stargate.
Fionna and Cake + Cheers. “Everyone on Cheers is like 3 inches tall” was such a direct jab at the little-man attitude a celebrity can (and that cast fully did) develop. Hey Arnold looks like it MAY also take place in that universe I just can’t prove it yet.
Don’t forget the inclusion of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack when Prismo is skipping through universe “channels!”
There’s also a blue jay that looks suspiciously and sounds suspiciously like Mordecai from Regular Show in the Adventure Time episode “Ketchup.”
Gravity Falls had a crossover reference with Rick & Morty. (GF would be the only non-Cartoon Network show in this theory)
Over The Garden Wall is canonically in the Clarence universe.
Samurai Jack has an episode that takes place in post apocalyptic Townsville from Powerpuff Girls.
We are getting closer to the grand unified theory of Cartoon Network.
