Donald Trump said Friday his administration will take action on Greenland “whether they like it or not,” further escalating his rhetoric as he pushes to acquire the Danish territory for the U.S.

The comments came during a meeting with oil executives to discuss the prospect of doing business in Venezuela. Less than a week earlier, the U.S. military invaded the oil-rich South American nation and captured its leader, Nicolás Maduro.

Denmark and its European allies in NATO – the military alliance co-founded by the U.S. – have pushed back, reiterating that Greenland is not for sale. But the Trump administration nevertheless says it is currently weighing a range of options on Greenland, including utilizing the U.S. military or cutting a deal to purchase it from Denmark.

Not really a defense for those 40% but many of them don’t know what is going on. There are strong efforts to keep them distracted, lied to and stupid.

That’s pathetic. A guy like this in a sane country should have a 5% rating because you just can’t get everyone to not be completely garbage. 40% on his side and the military and every other armed fed goon is insanity. The only thing sinking in is that I somehow managed to underestimate just how fucking stupid they, and the rest of the world who enables this behaviour, really are.

I am sick of every new generation being like “i know, we’ll protest!” STOP WASTING YOUR TIME, nothing will work at this point except what you guys are too afraid to do. It’s your duty and your mess, so clean it up.

Even if Trump is removed from power this problem isn’t going to go away. To start solving the problem permenently we need to get rid of capitalism. Fascism is capitalism in crisis and if capitalism is maintained fascism is inevitable.

Are yall slow or what, why do you still need those files, can’t you put two and two together, you gonna do nothing untill you got every last single file?

No. It’s that he thinks this will get the news cycle off the files, which will let him solidify power. It’s also that he’ll sacrifice as many people as he wants to ensure those files don’t get out. He’s right too. Old news is dead news. It’s that our news, and our politicians by extension, are easily manipulated.

Ok then what will happen when all the files appear then what?

Congress will then have to attach their names to diddling kids. Even if they did, their donors won’t tolerate it. If they did, then the guillotines come out.

If you gonna protest after all the files appear, then you can protest NOW already.

We already are. People are angry but, if politicians as a whole throw their names behind fucking children, that’d be throwing gas on the fire. That is when the protesters start getting violent. The cops are using lethal force now, but the political class saying that its okay for them to start sticking their penises into 11 year olds is when the prorestors start shooting back. It’d also be alienating to cops, national guardsmwn, and the military too. Everyone has kids in their family, and that’d be asking them to sign off on their family being raped too.

He became president 🥲 so you think “When everything becomes public, the political class is morally exposed.” Most of this was already public before his first term. If it didn’t lead to consequences then, it won’t magically do so now. I wouldn’t count on it that the release of all the epstein files will change anything or lead to consequences. And I also hear that most americans dont even follow the news or dont care whats going on with politics or even support whats going on. You can protest but organizing mass strike works better tbh. put the american economy to a standstill if you really wanna change something.

Most of this was already public before his first term.

True, and a lot of people put on blinders of convenience. But that convenience falls away in front of an Epstein pic of DJT fucking a 10-year-old.

Put the american economy to a standstill.

It would be nice if the American people could afford to do that, and maybe we could have at some point before the 80s. But, we had Regan who sold the “idea” of trickle-down ecconomics. Now, people are too broke to quit/protest, and doing so would mean they could no longer get any medical care (not that they could much before, but any healthcare is better than no healthcare) and they’d lose access to food and housing. Simply, Americans haven’t been desperate enough on this to die yet. But, it’s getting there. Remember, the French didn’t bust out the guillotine right away. It wasn’t until food shortages got bad and the workers had literally no money that they stormed the Bastille.

The Danes have already stated, “shoot first, ask questions later.” I don’t expect them to step down from that position. An invasion by a hostile state IS an act of war. And the invader is by definition a war criminal. The Danes are being serious, they aren’t jesting. FAFO.

I’m more interested in what the rest of the world will do. I have no doubt Greenland will defend itself, but no one really seemed interested in sending troops to help Ukraine when Russia invaded, what would be different in this scenario? I realize technically it’s NATO, but it isn’t like any of those agreements are bound by laws of nature and most of the people in charge these days seem more interested in whatever is profitable than what is right.

The rest of NATO need to put troops in Greenland, today, with clear orders to fire on any invading force, even if its the US.

If there’s one clear and obvious pattern with Trump’s use of military power, it’s that he likes quick, easy, low cost military operations. One day of airstrikes, one special forces raid, declare victory, go home. Either he or the people around him understand that America has no stomach for a war right now. The American right have been beating the anti-war drums hard for the last decade. But surgical military operations win public because they’re already over before anyone can react. Look, see, no Iraq style quagmire. Trump gets it done, no problems. Not like those other idiots.

All of which adds up to the conclusion that Trump will not want to spark a war with the entirety of NATO. But he’s extremely confident that if he steals Greenland fast enough, NATO won’t want a war to take it back.

This is why the defence of Greenland has to be pre-emptive. A clear commitment to a fight, before the US can put boots on the ground. Do that, and Trump will back down. The right wing politics of today are not the right wing politics of 2001. He doesn’t want a war, he wants an easy victory. We cannot offer him one.

Americans can’t stop themselves from telling other countries what to even when they want other countries to solve their problems for them.

The US will be stopped but it’s gone beyond Trump. It won’t be anything flashy to entertain Americans that enjoy watching people die on their screens. It’ll be a slow decline and collapse of the USA. American culture has become so toxic to the world that the USA needs to be permanently dismantled. It will take decades, but it needs to be done.

As a Canadian, obviously I would take an help offered, but I do strongly believe that Greenland is where we need to draw the line in the sand. Again, I don’t think Trump has the stomach for an actual war. I think he knows how much that would sink his popularity with the people who most strongly support him. A war with Canada would be an especially difficult sell.

I’m not remotely dismissing the possibility that it could happen. Trust me, my wife is in the CAF, she’d be on the front fucking line if it did. There’s shit I know that I can’t even fucking talk about when it comes to those kinds of conversations. But I think the key here is that he’s really looking for quick easy wins. That’s Trump’s whole mentality. It’s all about what you can steal before anyone notices you got away with it. He’s a conman and a thief by nature. Greenland is where NATO can show Trump the will to stand up to him, and deny him the easy, cheap wins that he wants. It won’t end the threat, but at this point I’m really not sure if anything NATO does can end the threat of the US without a world war. I think the only thing, realistically, that can be done is to buy time for the people in America to get their fucking shit together and end this nightmare.
